The outrage began on Friday, after news outlets began aggregating a Telegraph story stating that the film does not depict Neil Armstrong planting the American flag on the moon. According to V.F.’s correspondent at the Venice Film Festival, who has seen the movie, this is technically true; the film does not have a scene specifically showing the flag being planted. It does, however, show the flag on the moon in multiple background shots.

Probably more people will see it now. People who didn't care, and people checking to see that the flag is in the movie.

Gosling says they purposely left it out. That it wasn't an American event. Back peddling doesn't change this.

Word is, they decided to not do a planting of the American flag scene because the movie producers have decided it was a human achievement more than an American one....even though it was our science and our money and our astronauts LOL.

So maybe that answers the question already. I can hardly wait to see the diverse mission control they will portray...or will they just cut those scenes out because it was 99% white males who ran this show.

The biggest problem with movies today, or any form of media are this cultural Marxist and postmodernist. Such people who who hail to cultural Marxism and postmodernism will backlash to forms of movies, video games and comics. Blade runner 2049 received backlash due to main character killing a woman at the end. Film Dunkirk received flack for not having women or minorities. This movie that is coming out will receive backlash from feminist and sjws. Right now as a society, we are in an culture war. Sjws and feminists will make sure certain mediums of media will be boycotted. Also those that be that watch or entertained by certain mediums will be labeled a racist and a sexist.

Remember. Sjws have clout in media, entertainment, publishing and academia. They are a very powerful force.

All about pushing leftist agenda, nothing about the historic event and it's real history or significance to the world.

Leftists didn't want it to happen in the first place. Dubbed it "Whitey on the Moon".
Yeah, you're right. I just saw that anti American movie from Hollywood " Saving Private Ryan" last night . Those damn Hollywood lefties really hated America in that one.

BTW, Stop using the racist term "Whitey" in your posts. You've been warned.

That's the flag decal attached to the LM, FWIW. You should have posted the entire frame.

Why don't you learn a little history instead of pulling out the R-word to win argument.

Dude, you need to compare notes with the other posters who are planning to boycott, because I suspect they won't take kindly to bing called cultural marxist sjws etc. etc.

Incidentally, Dunkirk was massive criticized by the right-wingers who expected an easy-to-digest battle between Good and Evil and instead got to see young scared men being chewed up by war, which is of course much closer to the truth.

Dunkirk, those young boys wanted to go back home at all costs. It wasn't a war movie, it was a movie based on survival. Again postmodernist types will not take this movie too heartly due to lack of women and minorities in the film. Last I don't need to compare notes. I will not boycott this film. I have enjoyed Apollo 13, contact, Armageddon, deep impact, sunshine, gravity, interstellar, the Martian, red planet, 2001 space Odyssey, 2010 the year we make contact and mission to Mars. I'm really looking forward to this movie.

You can only backpedal something you didn't do in the first place. If they have the call to Nixon in the film coinciding with the planting of the flag, some more people will get upset.
