It's 1,500 miles from Guatemala to the U.S. border. And even farther from Honduras.

People in good shape can walk maybe 15-20 miles a day... if they're well fed and cared for. (Who's feeding them and caring for them, providing them places to sleep, bathrooms etc.? 7,000 people is a LOT of people)

According to media stories, they just crossed the Guatemala/Mexican border in the last few days.

So it will take them at least 2-3 months to get to the U.S. border. If they walk 7 days a week, never slacken their pace or pause a day to rest.

The answer to your question above, is left as an exercise for the class.
You're absolutely right! The mathematics is definitely strange to say the least.

The people responsible for this should be arrested and tried in military tribunals for sedition against the sovereignty of the United States of America as well as all the potential costs these people will incur U.S. taxpayers if they get in.

If they have websites that promote and organize this stuff than you can certainly find the organizers, enablers and facilitators and have them arrested by military police.

It's about 1,500 miles from Guatemala to the U.S. border.

Takes at least 3 months to walk that far. They just crossed the Guatemala border a few days ago.

The midterm elections are what, two weeks from now?

I guess letting over 20,000 in the U.S. on granted visas traipse to the border with Canada should earn you what....respect?

The irony of your duplicity escapes you completely doesn't it?

and what do you suggest? kill everyone who jumped the wall, in front of the world audience ... as you will contain 7 thousand people who surely have turned into almost 100 thousand ...

imagine the crowd scene swinging the fence and it falling and they running and the American guard killing everyone, women, children, young, old ... it will be a scandal, liberals would enter into a hallucinatory collective hysteria, everyone would be shocked and terrified the world would condemn america forever.

Assuming they don't find or aren't given other means of transportation.

Either way, they're going to be in the news through the election cycle. If it takes a few months for them to get to the southern border, the election might actually effect the outcome.

Emergency legislation required this week to end catch and release.

C&R is the bait used to attract illegal entry.

Great idea
... because we are going to respect Mexican sovereignty under its territory ... we are America ... we will invade Mexico without its permission and we will prevent the right of the people who are in another country to move

If the president is in charge of enforcing the law then he needs to lock himself up right now.

Here's how far they have to walk.

Unless they mysteriously get rides.

This caravan will only help trump politically. I cannot imagine most independents who might be tempted to repudiate trump's actions in the polls are thrilled with the current incarnation of the democratic party (white men are evil, abolish ice, no one is illegal). This caravan incident is only reminding them about what is the democrat's weakest issue (and so patently obviously designed to solicit votes from latinos).
