Do the folks routinely posting nonsense on here vilifying each other in spurious terms strike you as the same?

There does not exist one thread on here that hasn't got some insult flying towards the other side of the aisle for no other reason than they're either a Democrat or a Republican.

Be forewarned, we have commissioned hundreds of rabbit farms strategically placed beside marijuana grow-ops all along the 49th to genetically clone masterbiebers in preparations for the 'end-of-times" scenario.

Make one nefarious move towards our mellow veggies and you'll be up to your hineys in elevator pop the likes of which you've never encountered. Your ears will bleed.

Hell, she should do more than think. Just do.

She's been thinking about it her whole *@#%^& life. What good is a few more minutes of thinking going to do her now?

(loosely based on Jack Nicholson's dialog in The Shining)

I would be more than happy to preface all comments with "some" and "few" if I thought we'd be accorded the same courtesy but, as you know this game only has one set of rules......yours.

We get nothing less than your top dog lying and insulting our country. The whole world was privy to that display of Americanism at it's finest.

Streisand's singing voice was sublime. Her politics are dreck. Barbra's opinion is irrelevant.

Barbra Streisand is once again thinking about leaving the United States for political reasons.

In a Tuesday interview with The New York Times, the 76-year-old star admitted that she's considering moving to Canada if the Democrats don't win a majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections next week.

"I want to sleep nights, if we take the House I’ll be able to sleep a little bit better," Streisand told the outlet, adding that if they don't take control she's been "thinking about" a potential move.

I can’t even believe that I ever was a huge fan of Babs! Now she is nothing like my once hero! She is lower than low!

Hope she leaves just as I got rid of her music!

Fine and dandy while the insults were directed at Bab's but why would Americans, either find it necessary to insult Canada because of what some idiot American says, or why wouldn't you think it appropriate for a Canadian to respond in kind to idiot Americans spouting off about Canada?

No one on the planet would attribute more of the "spouting off" as coming from Canada; it's predominantly proven as an American thing to vilify other countries in a disparaging manner. Of that there can be no debate.
I will take issue with your statement that spouting off and vilifying other nations is an American trait alone. Do we do it? Yes some of us do. Do other nations do it at least as much as we do? Yes they do. May I remind you how many Canadians come off as very smug and superior toward our country? Europeans do this to us as well. We take at least as many insults and in my opinion more than we could ever dish out.

You winter in Florida right? Sometimes you come off as someone who does not like us. If you spend months here every year that can’t really be true but in your posts you do seem to have a chip on your shoulder about us. No doubt we are more free with our words and feelings than the reserved Canadians are (especially here in the south). I wonder if that is part of the problem. No matter our Canadian neighbors are always welcome down here.

I've got a chip on my shoulder? I thought I just explained all of that to you. This very thread was started by an American with the usual suspects jumping in to once again pizz on Canada over something American Streisand said.

I winter in Florida and will continue to do so unless and until it becomes evident to me Canadians are no longer welcome by those folks I've met in over 20 years of spending time in your south from the west to now the eastern part. We've had nothing but good experiences from both the country and the people.

More free with your words? Why wouldn't you be in your own country?
Canadians are more reserved? Holy moly, as guests in your country why would you expect otherwise?

I've never heard the kind of nonsense espoused by those we've befriended about Canada that comes over these boards in any number of threads. Nor have I heard from American guests we've entertained in Canada the things commonly uttered on here.

I put that down to politeness and normal social conventions of respect.

If I were to couch my responses more carefully using the adjectives like "some" and "few", I'd be the only one playing by those rules.

I refer you back to posts #32 and #33 where it began in this thread.

Yes we are generally more outspoken and free with our thoughts than most other western countries. I do feel that is partly why we get such a bad rap. Canada is a more reserved nation than the US, although the US Midwest is similarly reserved. I certainly did not mean that as an insult, just an observation.

My post was not meant to provoke you, but you see our uniformed ignorant posters and are blind to many similarly ignorant comments about the US, many coming from Canadians. Usually these posts are related to Canada being socialist or claims the country is not really free and I do understand why those posts bother you. Do you think we Americans enjoy reading Canadian posts about us being “gun nuts” , uneducated, fat, imperialists etc. You realize we hear it all don’t you? We hear as much if not more ignorance directed at us as you get toward Canada. I hope you also realize that most Americans do not subscribe to the ignorant views you read in here right? I hope you folks up north read about all the heat President Trump took down here for his disrespectful treatment of Canada. This criticism came from both republicans and democrats. Obviously the few anti Canada posters do not represent the feelings of most Americans. If you spend that much time down here I know you realize that. Like I said as far as most of us are concerned Canadians are always welcome here.

Thank goodness the real world and the world of CD are radically different. In the real world Canadians and Americans get along fine.
