"In fact, these flexibilities make school lunches less healthy and cater to the interests of businesses that see heftier profits in mass-producing fattier, sweeter and saltier foods."

Better than it being thrown in the trashcan.
You can always pack your kids lunch, or take him/her lunch everyday.

Better to keep trying to improve instead of selling out to make a buck.

Most sack lunches from home are also thrown in the trashcan, by students who have enough money in their pockets to buy junk food at school.

We have an obesity problem in our country with adults and kids. This causes our healthcare rates to increase. Sorry, we shouldn’t cater to what kids want to eat in schools. If they don’t like it, then don’t eat it.

Yes indeed because it's wonderful to turn little kids into morbidly obese adults by stuffing them full of refined sugars and carbs and strawberry milk. What in the world are you even thinking?

So we have a choice between potentially having heavier kids who can be guided to make better eating decisions, and having hungry kids who can't stay awake in class because the food sucks. Our country is already about the lowest you can get among advanced nations in terms of education, Mrs. Obama's school lunch thing just pushed us even lower.
