Don't have any razor blades around when you do your Bernie Sanders tax return. In fact, it might pay to rob a convenience store and just go straight to effing jail. At least they'll feed you.

Because after Pocahantas or Beto or Occasional-Cortex gets through with you, you aren't going to have any income to tax.

Oh noes! I might pay more for.....

universal childcare. Woot! less childcare bills, and the gf with kids can make more!

Student loan relief....You mean people could afford to go to colleges again and maybe increase their earning potential? Oh the horror. Those poor people might have equal opportunity again! This country used to really benefit from equal opportunity.

Single payer healthcare? You mean my insurance would go down because in countries that do it they get equivalent results at half the cost. WOOT!

Universal basic income? You mean where they take some money, then give some money back? Sure...because that would guarantee me a more stable income instead of the constant fear of losing everything due to temporary job issues? Sure! (But lets wait on this one til we've done more research, tried it some places, and understand the tradeoffs better to decide when its appropriate). But right now know what people who wont work do? Its all about SSI. The horror....we might all get the same benefit, but those who work will now get nothing extra compared to everyone else.

"no one" meaning none of us.

Rick Scott would likely pay it on some of his income.

Weren't we closer to a balanced budget in those days? If so, you don't have to research anything...it obviously worked, loopholes and all.

I like a simplified system - but it has to raise enough money to do the job.
ahhhh, THAT we could have an honest discussion about!

what was % of GDP federal spending vs GDP tax revenue over time, where were the changes, why the changes, and what can we do today to bring it back in line?

I thought random voting already happened. If you still buy whatever those politicians feed you through media, you are kind of behind.

You said your 2018 income was higher than it was in 2017. That means more of your income was taxed at your highest marginal tax rate. Do you understand why that is? Or do you need more of an explanation?

Deserve to be poor? Some people use withholding so that they can save for a big purchase without being tempted to spend the money on things they don't need as badly. It's part of being poor, something which I am sure none of the millionaires who post on CD know anything about

Completely nonsensical as that method of "saving" pays no interest. Are people really that stupid?

THat being said, it has already been widely reported that there would be some doing better and some worse so that is not a debatable issue.

But we have people trying to portray it that everyone got an increase except the fat cats which is dishonest. Clearly is a range of those impacted with people with higher incomes with high state tax and property taxes being the most impacted.
Then why is the IRS claiming that we will see approximately 21% of Americans or 30 million Americans owe on their taxes. And another 6 million will get nothing back. So much it being over the much ballyhooed "sending the government an interest free loan" narrative...

Not everyone has expenses on which they are paying interest, can people really be that stupid as to assume that everyone in the US has credit card debt and auto loans?

SOOOOOO HAAAPPPPY your rich 1% buddies got a tax break, they REEEAAAALLY need it.

Congrats however, now I know I'm voting for ANYONE but Trump.
Did you happen to look at the overall amount of tax you paid? The refund is not the measure.
