Rarely. Prior to the vaccine, 3 to 4 million people got measles in the US every year. Out those millions, 400 to 500 people died from measles in a given year. Approximately, .013% of people who got measles died from measles.

Not specifically about the vax issue here, I'm a bit on the fence with it but in general, isn't it a bit inconsistent to allow property be taken (yeah, I know they're paid but not always fairly and many peoples' ties to homes go far beyond $$$ value) from people who do not want to sell thru eminent domain 'for the public good' while not doing what we can to prevent the spread of disease 'for the public good'?
Go to a truck stop sometime. You'll see Mexicans and central americans driving rigs and many are coughing and sneezing. maybe we need some stricter border control and health screenings for those that CAFTA are letting in not to mention illegals.
I agree. I was in Costa Rica a few years ago and the authorities there were considering a ban on children from California visiting their wonderful country because of a measles outbreak.
Why California?
"The states that have reported cases to CDC are Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, and Washington."
