I can't think of a single thing more likely to convince more women to wear leggings than a prude's crusade against them.

I don't even have any, but I'm sure going to get a pair or two now.

As opposed to wearing them as.....? Shoes?

Do you mean when worn without a long top that covers most of the butt?

You do know that they are worn all the time in the gym with a sports bra right? Are they skanks too?

What about pants that essentially thick leggings (mean fitted stretchy material)? Plenty of people wear them to the office with a blazer that only comes to mid butt.

I go to the gym every day, wear leggings, and then run errands. The are flattering and functional. I could care less if a guy cops a glance at my butt.

Plenty of jeans are leave little to the imagination, or short shorts, or sun dresses, tube tops, etc.

I hardly see how this can be an issue.
Right! Makes me wonder what men will be getting all excited about 50 yrs from now!! Im guessing todays standard will be tame in comparison!

They are jealous, thats all, they wish men were ogling them! They know they cannot 'pull off' wearing skin tight leggings in public.

I'm 70 yo, happily married for 41 years.
I wear leggings inside and outside the house almost every day during cold/cool weather. Because they're more warm, comfortable, durable, and flexible than any other type casual attire I've ever worn.
Like most women, I wear long tops over them.
I'm physically active & in good enough shape that I don't scare small children, regardless of what I wear.

Please mansplain how I'm "flaunting". And while you're at it, please dictate what you think my wardrobe choices should be.

Why not just go full hijab and burka?
Because we're aiming for reasonable, not extreme?

Requiring/Encouraging modest dress for women seems like a step down the path to Sharia Law, is that really a good idea?
A-step-down-the-path arguments against reasonable checks on behaviour are a step down the path toward complete depravity.

Nobody thinks you're flaunting yourself if you have a long top covering your butt. And btw... nobody going to respect your opinion when you use words like "mansplain".

But can they reasonably be regarded as immodest and as possibly helping to promote a view of women as a body and not as a person, as many feminists might in other circumstances insist is important for women?

Maryann White seems to think so:

It seems to me that these are kind of trashy looking. Of course if you are an student of anatomy and are interested in examining the women wearing these garments from that perspective, perhaps that makes some sort of sense.

Is the word "modesty" now rejected and despised by the purveyors of the Democrat left "Political correctness" mandatory thought and speech codes? They can take those and stick them, well, you know where, at least as far as I am concerned. If the very suggestion that some modicum of modesty is desirable is considered objectionable by these people, that is really a sad and undesirable state of affairs.

Women, you do better than this. Can't you?
But I thought in this era of empowered women, they can wear whatever they so choose!!
For all the yapping by women about how evil men are, I see women being tougher on women than men are!!
Why does this woman care? If she truly was an empowered woman and ally, she'd tell these girls how beautiful they are and how they empowering themselves by wearing clothes of their choosing.
You can bet if a man said this, it would be an Estrogen Uprising, followed by ShameFest 2019

What is extreme today, is not the extreme of the past, or of the future.

They aren't listening to you, because they don't agree with you on what is reasonable. They are to your left, and the Amish are to your right. Why are they wrong and you right?

I had a debate with my niece on Facebook and she ended up blocking me, because I disagreed with her claim that the female breast isn't inherently sexual. She believes we have only sexualized it by forcing women to cover it. Well, suffice to say I did not convince her, and I cannot convince her. So why bother at all?

She represents the future. Look at this thread.
