Taser still might have been a better choice than a choke hold. Assuming it worked.
Cops bungled this collar. Should have been able cuff and stuff the guy without killing him. And the cop doing the choke hold. All tatted up like an outlaw biker. Cops should present a neat and professional appearance. Not look like psycho thugs. What the hell is going on in New York?
Have you ever seen someone with tats on their neck and face? Makes them look like they've done time in the pen. Not a look I want to see on a cop. Not in my neighborhood. I want my local LE looking neat and professional. If they can't mange that then look for another job.
NYPD allows neck/face tattoos? That's pretty damned progressive. Not many places with uniform rules allow tattoos above the shoulders.
I, obviously, have not seen a picture of the officer in question.
I looked at pics from the internet and didn't see neck or face tattoos on Officer Pantaleo. However, his left arm appeared entirely covered from his wrist up past his elbow. Right arm covered above the elbow. Both legs appeared covered from the ankle up past the knee. If it had been my call I would not have hired the guy as a LE officer.
Like I said, the cops screwed up. Even if they saw him in the act of selling loosies to a minor, which would be a legitimate cause for arrest in my opinion, they should not have used a choke hold on him. And if they didn't see him commit any crime at all they should have just left him the hell alone.
Guy resisted. Officer used excessive force. Officer denied using a chokehold. Autopsy shows otherwise.
Two lousy choices = dead guy.
NYPD must decide what to do with the officer, reinstate him to active duty, suspend him or terminate his employment.

Probably did it after he was hired........not that it doesn't make me feel icky defending him.
Local DA’s can’t be objective, seen this plenty of times.
