So a thread about Trump wanting to buy Greenland means Democrats should buy it?
Yeah, they could start their own socialist country. They’ve got a better chance of this happening than Trump going there.
They could have open borders, free health care.. build tuition free colleges, and keep an eye on the ice pack for global warming.... er I mean climate change.
Trump is also trying to drive the USA into bankruptcy (he's an expert on bankruptcies you know) so he could buy it at a sale price and declare himself 'king'.
There is the debate on Greenland being the largest island. Well, Australia is commonly accepted in certain circles to be not only island, but a country and arguably a continent, as well.
Secretary of State Seward attempted to buy Greenland in 1867, at the same time he was negotiating with Russia on the purchase of Alaska. Harry Truman also made an inquiry or attempt into buying Greenland in 1948, at the peak panic moment after the USSR successfully tested atomic weapons.
Greenland was and is a strategic geographic location because most trans-Atlantic air traffic passes over or near it. It is also the site of strategic early warning stations that can detect any ICBM approaching the polar area from Russia or elsewhere in the northern hemisphere.
Greenland is also said to be loaded with mineral / natural resource riches that have not been widely explored or exploited. This could be what somebody told Trump about, and likely triggered his interest in "buying" Greenland. Kind of like when he lamented why the US did not take over all the oil production during the military campaign in Iraq.
Trump would probably try to finagle the paperwork so the deed would be put in his name and then he would try to lease it to the USA. Once a con man always a con man.

In certain circles?
Every atlas ever made says Australia is a country and continent.
