When I went to CNN.com today this was the top story. That is what I call fake news. Taking a completely unimportant thing and elevating it to great importance with the purpose of making President Trump look bad.

I know sometimes he doesn't need help looking bad.

Some staffer is going to have to explain Mercator projection to Trump. Can you imagine trying to take that on?

Awesome place names. Sisimiut, Kulusut, Ammasalik?

Anyway, tell Trump it's filled with brown people who don't speak English, he'll lose interest.

And this seemed apt:

I think we are making too much about this inquiry to buy Greenland.

Greenland is in a strategic place between Russia and USA, like Alaska. It might be worth buying at the right price. But if it is not for sale (most likely) or too much asking price then we don't buy it.

This is like not trying to ask a girl out because you don't have the courage. The worst that can happen is that she says not or that she has a steady boyfriend already. But you can be also pleasantly surprised when she says yes. Nothing attempted, nothing gained.

Call it whatever you like. It is news and it is something that Americans have a right to know.

He sounds dangerously ignorant and slightly insane. The American public should be aware of that.

President Harry Truman tied to purchase it. Nothing story. Unless it's a Republican.

Trump can just trade the 836K square miles of Greenland for California, Oregon and Washington, which is about 310K square miles, and then he also comes closer to Emperor status without all those pesky liberal voters. Plus the west coast gets their tax rate and health care from Denmark. Heck, he could probably throw VT in there, just to mess with Bernie.
It would be a Trump deal, all right.

California GDP: 3 trillion US$, give or take.
Greenland GDP: 2.4 billion or so.

Of course, it would be in the fine print that Greenland would have to pay for the costs in being renamed Trumpland (gold-leaf signage), and that they'd be expected to pay royalties to the Trump family for using the name.

Slightly different world in 1946. The US was respected, for one thing.
