There has been media hype lately demonizing vaping, right at the same time I chose to switch, so I'd appreciate anyone's opinion on the matter.

Thanks!
So you are claiming victory but still vaping and haven't even begun to ween yet.

My opinion is that you are a victim of bogus marketing. As a long-time smoker who quit when my daughter was born (19 years ago), I just say "do it".

Everything I've read, and SEEN, Vaping is more addictive that the cigs they replace. Science is showing us they are more destructive too.

I don't mean to gloat on your pain, but I think you were mislead, and have switched a bad vice for a worse one. I hope you can quit nicotene, and if you are successful in totally quitting, then you will have succeeded (and I'll be wrong). I hope that' the outcome.

This is my 2 cents: Vaping is pretty new. As I recall, it became popular in 2013-14. Not much was known about it then... but people want to inhale the chemicals. I figured one day if it were harmful, people would get sick and drop like flies.

As for it being "safer than cigarettes" the FDA is banning that statement and many states are telling people to stop vaping/e-cigs.

That's all I got!

No matter what method a person addicted to nicotine uses they must still go through withdrawal to escape this foul deadly habit. The best way to quit smoking is to just do it and tough it out.

Nasty habit, same as smoking. All the nonsense about this list of chemicals to inhale being better than that other list of chemicals to inhale...stop it. You're still inhaling a bunch of unnecessary crap into your body's cardiopulmonary system and screwing with the natural balance. Be intellectually honest about it, and don't try to make vaping sound like a solid way to train for running marathons and extended free diving. Vapers sound so freaking stupid with their "healthy smoke" foolishness.

That said, if you dig it, do it. If you don't dig it, then don't do it. Simple. I won't stand in your way, nor should anyone else, particularly Leviathan. Always and forever a champion of self-ownership.

PS - I smoked for 15 years. I quit cold turkey and never looked back almost 25 years ago. At no point did I delude myself on what my habit was, how destructive and costly it was, etc. Vapers should try that intellectual honesty...seriously.

480,000 people die of smoking tobacco every year out of 34 million smokers in the US
6 people died out of 10 million vapers in the US.

Yet... vape is a bigger health concern than tobacco smoke?

All this publicity over vaping is a huge win for Big Tobacco... their market has been shrinking at a fast pace.

Why is Trump banning e-cigarettes?

Isn't that a Nanny State move?

Not to mention there are things much more dangerous than vaping, like guns and real cigarettes.

Its the same hypocritical crap from the conservative side... they point to liberals as those nanny state socialist big government types but they are usually guilty of the same.

The biggest difference is that Tobacco has a strong and very well funded lobby. Vape industry is fragmented and has no lobby representation of any competent size. Tobacco sales have been declining rapidly and this is a move to stop the competitor market.
