Someday people are gonna learn that when you inhale things into your lungs besides clean air, things are eventually gonna go wrong. When that 'someday' will arrive, I know not when.

The lungs are supposed to extract oxygen from the air. Once you start using them for other purposes, things are bound to go wrong. Might as well start ingesting gasoline into your stomach just to get a buzz (yes, there are people who do that, too).

Many people smoke for years without ever getting sick. There are centenarians that have smoked for most of their lives. does that mean that cigarette smoke is harmless?

No conductor, it is just the train driver and he probably didn't notice at all. I was shocked at first, but then realized she wasn't really "smoking" and it was a new vaping, which everyone was saying was so much safer and healthier and made you think the stuff was made out of fruit juice or something.

ugh. that sucks. It doesn't matter if it smoking or vaping, in the confines of a train I certainly could understand banning them on trains.

So my state has tried to tax it. It is per volume of liquid containing nicotine.

The end result...

People buy vape juice in 30ml bottles with NO nicotine (zero additional tax) and a separate vial of 1-4ml of nicotine fluid. So rather than paying taxes on 30ml of fluid you pay taxes on 1-4ml of nicotine fluid. The difference is something like 12 bucks for 60ml bottles.

The store will even add the nicotine vial to the bottle and shake it for yah for free.

The issue is that vape juice is so easy to make at home... so how do you tax it without people just saying F it and buying the stuff to make it at home. It only consists of three main ingredients; PG VG flavorings and (optionally) nicotine.

No one, even vapers, are arguing it is harmless... just lesser than cigarettes.

I wish that strawman would just die already.

If something had to be completely harmless to be legal there would be a lot of things that are illegal. Water for example can kill a person if consumed in large quantities.

Shouldn't be banned by the government.

Whether you smoke or vape should play into your medical insurance premium though.

When alcohol is being consumed, the liver is doing what it's supposed to be doing: Cleaning the impurities from your metabolic system. Of course, if you overload it with something like too much alcohol, things are gonna go wrong.

The respiratory system has no mechanism to clean impurities from the air when you breathe. That is, there is no line of defense at all for the respiratory system. Which makes inhaling non-clean-air all the more dangerous. And stupid.

So what?

Oh you are wrong btw.. lungs have the ability to clean impurities and get rid of stuff.... you think the air you breath is pure air?
