When investigation the truthfulness of a Supreme Court Justice they should move heaven and earth to get it right. There are places where we do not need those who prevaricate.
An allegation with zero proof is not something the FBI should waste resources on.
If that was the standard, an entity could consume large resources and hold up such nominations by tossing out one allegation after another for years.

All allegations start with zero proof. The nature of allegations.
You start out by examining the credentials of the individual. Stier will do very well. Then you examine whether he was there. Stier will do very well. Then you start on who else was there and what they remember. Run down the threads and eventually you get to the best truth available as to what happened.

Kavanaugh was (is?) a drunk and did a lot of stupid stuff. His behavior then speaks to the kind of person he was, and very well may still be—a total jerk.
He is not fit to be on the Supreme Court of the US.
six background investigations and hundreds of people speaking highly about him says otherwise
What we have really learned from all of this is that when allegations of distant past sexual misconduct are brought against a conservative, they should NEVER be believed. And we should begin prosecuting anyone bringing such charges.
Hey, I’m not the one who came up with this story, but neither is Kavanaugh or the alleged victim. I totally agree that has got to be one of the more bogus, improbable stories I’ve heard in a while - nothing about it rings true. Which is probably the reason nothing further was done with the story by investigators. When you take into account that the “victim” says they remember nothing like that happening and the person reporting it had previous legal clashes with Kavanaugh, I’m sorry, it is ridiculous this has been given even an iota of credence and the NYT should be ashamed for doing so.
Not only is it totally bogus, the guy the NYT used as their source was Clinton’s defense attorney and hates Kavanaugh from their Whitewater battle with him.
The whole thing stinks, and I hope Kavanuagh can get some justice from this never ending witch hunt from the democrats and their deeply corrupted media....
I can't read the NYTimes story (behind a pay wall) but, the other news outlets report that the NYTimes wrote an article accusing kavanaugh of 'unwanted sexual misconduct' based on the allegations of two, anonymous people that said max stier said he saw Kavanaugh put his penis in the hands of another anonymous person more than 30 years ago.
does this sound like solid reporting by the NYTimes?

Apparently, the libs never learned the lesson of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'

They think rape and sexual assault are tools.
