That is what Trump said on December 16, 2017. A video of him saying that is at the link.

We need this as our final push and you're going to see some numbers that are really great. You're going to see great jobs numbers. Jobs are going to come pouring back into this country, which we need very much.
Remember that? Be sure to read the comments by the Trump fans at the bottom of the article. They are a perfect example of just naiive Trump fans can really be. They actually thought that would happen, and ridiculed democrats and Obama for not being able to do it! One commenter was even more outrageous:
Quote:
"4, 5 and 6%" are conservative estimates.
If/when the new tax plan is implemented, even 7 - 8 % are not out of reach.
Nearly two years later, a dose of reality is due.

You can find quarterly real GDP growth here. Below are the numbers since Trump took office, with the quarter in which he uttered those words in red. You can also find the same data on the BEA website here.

2017-Q1: +2.3%
2017-Q2: +2.2%
2017-Q3: +3.2%
2017-Q4: +3.5%
2018-Q1: +2.5%
2018-Q2: +3.5%
2018-Q3: +2.9%
2018-Q4: +1.1%
2019-Q1: +3.1%
2019-Q2: +2.0%

Do you see any 4%? Any 5%? Any 6%?

No, you don't. Even with the tax cuts Trump said would usher in a period of mega-growth, we see nothing of the kind. All you see is rather mediocre 2's, a few 3's and one 1%, same as we saw under Obama.

The point here is to demonstrate the fantasy world Trump and his fans live in. Just because Trump says something is going to happen, does not mean it will.

According to Trump and his fans a couple years ago, by now it was supposed to be so booming, I could not start threads saying what I just said.

There should be no "hits to our economy" according to Trump and his fans, circa 2017.

Economists cant even predict the economy. Anyone who votes for a candidate because they say they will accurately guide the economy to a certain metric that they have predicted is an easily manipulated, ignorant, partisan.

Misread on your part -- lamenting the fact Trump hasn't hit his targets.

They are caused by your Messiah. If he would end the stupid trade war the economy would be fine. Unfortunately at the rate things are currently going we will soon be in a second Great Depression and everyone is going to have to suffer.

It must be Obama's fault since Obama was still getting "credit" for the economy taking off until about 30 minutes ago.

Lol, I love the short memories of Trumpist. When Trump was running he consistently talked down the economy, Any good news was fake. All government statistics were false, etc.

More Trumpist fake outrage.

He didn’t say annually. Maybe he meant spread over several years.

Obama didn't say there would be 4, 5, 6 per cent growth

You folks are either naively shifting the narrative of this thread or purposely deflecting.

Trump said he could bring 4, 5 and maybe 6 percent GDP -- he hasn't.

We aren't celebrating his inability to reach those goals.

We are saying -- he didn't do it.

Most of us knew it wasn't realistic so we didn't put all our faith in his promises.

Trump FAILED by his own goals -- not by anything anybody set for him.
