I'll just point out one little thing. When management is able and actually mandated to do everything in their power for the purpose of driving labor costs down, we shouldn't be surprised that when the ability of labor to do the same on their own behalf is curtailed (the death of unionized labor), labor gets a much smaller slice of the pie. That's wage stagnation. The money is in the system it's just being distributed in an in-efficient counter productive way. We all do better with a strong middle class except the rich (or elite if you prefer).
If you don't think the 1%ers are actively working to put an end to the middle class then your blind and very naive. It's clearly to their benefit and Citizens United gave them the perfect vehicle with which to do so.
As opposed to capitalism, where you lose either way.
You're right, in part, you can lose with capitalism...either bad breaks, bad planning, almost anything can ruin a business.....on the other hand you always have a chance to make it, always.....
Under ideal honest conditions, socialism can work, but we do not have honest people.
Capitalism at least gives the people the right to choose which is the lesser liar.
I really dont blame you for wanting separate your ideology from the reality of how its implemented. But sadly it would be a failure either way.
What do you think my ideology is? I don't support socialism as it is one step worst than capitalism. I believe in private property but everything has a limit. You can have a gun for self defense but not to attack those who disagree. That is exactly what capitalists do. Socialists call for workers rights and equality, but although their attempt marginally help the poor at the beginning, it ultimately ends up worst.
Ecuador has been in lockdown after 10 days of protests. The IMF gave them a $4.2 billion loan and to pay for it the government has taken fuel subsidies (essentially doubling prices) and taken workers rights (higher taxes and less vacation). Capitalism takes from the poor to transfer it to the rich.
The US government gives billions of dollars to the energy sector and NOBODY calls them socialists. Having said this I don't support socialism. The only reason so called socialists countries fail sooner is that for them finance dry up quickly, when you you have military forces enforcing people all over the world buy dollars for every trade transaction then you can create almost unlimited debt.
For me a trully social system is one that puts the fantasy of ever maximising profits to rest. One in which economic, people's right and social well being are in equally weighted balance. This is my ideology.

This is so delusional!
Nobody except for the socialists is trying to put you down.

Yes, socialism can work after it slaughters everyone, which is the ideal situation you are talking about.

You are getting a bit warmer.
In order for socialism to work, the people have to forgo ALL self-interest. Utterly, and completely, and that just isn't and shouldn't happen.
If we are all working hard and productively in our own self interest, we are all working hard and productively, and those (in our own self-interest) are the only conditions upon which the expenditure of such levels of effort will occur.
Socialists never make this connection. They think people will just toil away with their nose to the grindstone for virtually nothing in return, or perpetually in the interest of others. Ain't gonna happen....EVER.
