Florida with no income tax ranks #4. California ranks #44. The great state of Texas is #12 on 4th grade math scores

Starting at $56,035 the ultra-corrupt, one-party, third-world cesspool that is California confiscates 10.3% of their residents income with it's government corruption.

Texas and Florida have no state income tax with public schools far superior compared to California.

California has horrible public schools that Missisippi would never tolerate.

Then again, I am not surprised California is known for some of the most inhumane jails and prisons on earth, LA has laughable infrastructure with many main streets in the San Fernando having dirt sidewalks.

Poor Californians tend to have very high birth rates. The state has always seemed like one big baby factory when ever I have been there. The few exceptions are the wealthy coastal towns (Newport Beach/Carlsbad), city of San Francisco and some of the rural parts of the state adjacent to national forests.

California ranked #44 for 4th grade test scores in America. Despite the tremendous scandenavian level taxes the state of California taxes they have far lower test scores than Mississippi.

Mississippi average test score: 241
California average test score: 235

Minnesota - blue state
Massachusetts - blue state
Virginia - increasingly blue state
Florida - purple state
New Jersey - blue state

Florida has a Republican governor.

Minnesota is Democratic and is #1 but it's a very socially conservative state that has old-fashioned families values still outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Most of the state is incredible outside of the twin arm-pits.

Minneapolis and St. Paul are heavily Democratic and have horrible schools, they also have some of the best quality suburbs in the country and much of the state is extremely liveable.

Massachusetts has a Republican governor

New Jersey had a Republican governor until very recently.

What would be telling is to compare the average dollars per year per student vs the test scores. No surprise to see CA near dead last, with the large number of illiterate illegals they have living there. I'm surprised that Oregon and NY are so bad. I lived in NYS (left 25 years ago) and they had some of the highest per-student costs in the nation.

That does not change the fact that California scores were low. The OP’s focus was on a single state, California.

Republicans in NJ and Massachusetts - especially statewide offices such as governors - are going to be pretty liberal.

And they are still liberal/blue states.

That you mentioned that shows the extent of your desperation.

If it's OK to pick on a single state, why California? Other than it's just another pick-on-California topic.

Alabama is dead last. Why didn't the OP pick on the state that was dead last? After all, if one were to pick on a state it should be the one at the bottom.

No, clearly it's because Alabama is a red state and God forbid a right winger pick on a red state, no matter how much it deserves it.

Most likely due to high level of recent immigrants. Schools tend to get the blame when the students are just not high quality to start with.
