They're already writing the press release.
It'll begin with something like "This is truly one of the darkest days in the history of our nation.
The Constitution blah blah blah, the people blah blah blah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah"
Anyone notice the stark difference between the two counsels? Trump lawyers are calm, concise, detailed etc. House Democrats are barking like junk yard dogs, frothing from the mouth, hyperventilating, etc lol
It appears that the GOP is ready to sacrifice McSally, Collins and Gardner at the altar of Trump. The campaign ads that will run in Maine, Colorado, and Arizona - states where Trump is unpopular - accusing them of a coverup are already writing themselves. In typical short-termist fashion, it appears Republican leadership is willing to risk the Senate majority to provide cover for a President who may not even be in office a year from now.
Trump was never going to be removed, but the calculus that educated voters and suburbanites won't punish the GOP in November for refusing to listen to pertinent evidence seems like a questionable one.
Your post sounds like you are more happy to be winning against the democrats than caring about what brought this country to where it is with this impeachment in the first place. I find that sad. Our country is broken.
Some seem to think this is like the Super Bowl. They check all principles at the door and just want "their team" to win. Reminds me of some parents I saw at children's sporting events.
Perjury is a pretty serious crime, regardless, so when you say "the only crime he committed was perjery" that is saying a lot and so far Trump has not been found guilty of committing any crimes: Is he, maybe sleezy, brash, classless? To me yes, but that doesn't mean he has committed a crime.
BTW, back to the OPs question: it is most likely a mute point at this time. It looks pretty much like tomorrow will be the end of this money wasting event. The case will be voted on and Trump will come out a winner.
So you mean using foreign aide money to force an investigation into a political rival who is looking to be the person running against you and is beating you in the polls isn't a crime? I guarantee if this was Obama , Hillary or Biden in the hot seat like Trump is right now, most of y'all would flip-flop and wanted their asses out already.
The problem is with ending it, is what cost will it have on November? Bolton's book comes out in March and if it is as damning as it seems, Trump and the Republicans are French-Connection-United-Kingdom-ed plain and simple. They have to tread lightly. If anything out of self-preservation. By having witnesses, at least they can poke holes into the narrative and not be an top-down party line vote. Ever think of that?

It sure doesn't seem much like a trial with witness testimony, documents, evidence, ...
The actual score of this "game" will be tallied in November.
