I must live in a different world from the Democrat candidates because I do not see any poverty and doomsday scenarios that the Democrat candidates describe. If they're fighting against this current economy, I'd say that is a losing scenario.

Probably some philosophical statement like “so the poverty was in us this whole time!!”

You don't live where I live. I see plenty of poverty. Our local food bank is projected to feed 20,000 this year. I work at a local soup kitchen and I see who comes in and how much food it takes to feed them. So good on you that you aren't subjected to the underbelly of humanity.

This is just a clip of Los angles. It is probably one of the worst in the U.S. but it gives some idea.

This is happening many places, some large scale and others on a smaller scale. I'm not advocating for Left or Right. So far I have not heard many real solutions; just people saying they can change it...not anything real about how that is going to happen.

Even a very large chunk of republican voters do not feel this economy is helping them.

Not surprising, considering the lack of labor unions, a national health care system, proper labor rights and the amount of big money in politics.

The homeless situation on the west coast is more the result of lax laws, warm weather, and plentiful drugs.

Those people are poor, no doubt, but the real numbers are in the countries rural areas, decaying rust belt cities and towns, and inner cities. Those are the people being left behind in this economy. I don't see much of it where I live on Long Island, but I've seen a lot of it in Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, etc. Trailers, houses falling down, depressed towns, etc.

They’re skin and bones. Distended bellies. They haven’t eaten in hours. Just awful.
