I started to believe that no matter what Trump did, SOME would blame him for this.
The travel ban is absolutely necessary.
Absolutely. If he would have enacted “draconian” measures right from the start, and it worked!
People would look around and see no sick people, then they would say “Look at Trump, with all his travel bans, all for nothing! This was a HUGE overreaction by the Trump administration. They have no idea what they are doing.”
It is a no win situation for him, which is why I keep saying that the politicization of this virus does not help. It only hurts. Bad decisions are made for political purposes. We would all be much better off to put politics aside for this and work together for solutions that will be effective. If there were no political ramifications to an early travel ban, that would have been helpful.

It could have helped a few weeks ago, but now it's locking the barn door after the horses are out.
If he had done it a few weeks ago and we were now looking around and seeing few sick people, he would have gotten kudos for helping the U.S. avoid what is going on in China and Italy.
We tend to be one step behind; my concern is it will stay that way. Once China finally took this seriously it acted. Effective intervention must focus on interpreting the transmission stage at the individual level - the walking well.
The Melissa & Bill Gates Foundation is working on developing a home test kit. We need to wear masks to prevent transmission to others. There are few available, of course. Production must expand - somehow. In the interim, even marginally reducing transmission (less face touching) with homemade masks helps lower the r naught.
PPE production is ramping up for the medical community. That's very important, but they need to have fewer patients.
absolutely!
We need to protect our doctors and nurses too, they are the ones protecting us if we really need them. Just cannot go to the hospital demand a test, it won't help anybody.
Most of us don't have a medical degree and most of us are not medical professionals, but we can ALL be civilian volunteers to help the people fighting in the frontline. we need to start NOW. Convince as many people as possible to practice social distancing, call out selfish and reckless behaviors, STOP visiting grandparents when we cough, sneeze, etc.

Then tell your buddy chucky shumer to keep his mouth shut, he called trump a racist and the travel ban premature, the 5th of February.....
My ER doctor uncle has told me to stay away from the hospitals which is the "dirtiest" place. (I have posted this at least 10 times in the other thread)
I don't think the media is overblowing the situation, this is One of the times I believe media coverage will get people's attention, (minus the trump bashing, which is totally useless) after all, we don't want to end up like Italy.
To my uncle, staying away from as many people as possible is equally important as frequent hand washing. (maybe social distancing is slightly more important)
Far better to overblow the situation, than to downplay it. Now you have high profile people, like NBA player, and Tom Hanks and his wife having the virus, will probably draw more attention to it. We should never try to minimize this serious situation, at the expense of trying to make the president look good. This is all on his watch, and he have a full plate to deal with. His job is to protect the American people.
