They are showing 52,000 recovered in Hubei out of 80,000 total in China. That's progress!

For the rest of the world, the active cases >> recovered.
Of course that's if and only if China is telling the truth. They tend to lie constantly and making their circumstances sound a lot better than they really are is just the sort of thing the Beijing tends to do.

Target, CVS, Walgreens will erect tents in their parking lots. There are no test kits available. There are no staff hired yet. They need protective gear. And the website where you can see if you qualify for and sign up for the test does not exist. That is a lot to put together by Monday!
We have one. Doc said he had about four roll through Friday morning. Doc said he was not going to test everyone that requested.

Johns Hopkins professor estimates at least 50,000 people have coronavirus in US

A medical professor at Johns Hopkins University urged Americans not to believe low numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, warning the actual number of people walking around with the virus could be “between 50,000 and half a million.”

“Don’t believe the numbers when you see, even on our Johns Hopkins website, that 1,600 Americans have the virus,” Makary said. “No, that means 1,600 got the test, tested positive. There are probably 25 to 50 people who have the virus for every one person who is confirmed.”

It looks like Trump's payroll tax cut is dead in the water. Neither side is getting behind this for the same reason many of us have been saying--it's useless. It will not help people who are really going to need help, namely people who are out of work, to say nothing of contract workers and people who depend on tips. And it will unnecessarily put a major dent in the Social Security funds.

Glad to see both Democrats and Republicans coming together to shoot down this stupidity. That's progress.

Don't trust China either, however look at the international businesses that are reopening. I don't think Starbucks would risk their reputation. Appears to me that there's three months of hell, then things start easing up.

This is the real issue

The professor noted that American hospitals will be overwhelmed by the massive influx of people, saying most intensive care units are already operating near full capacity.

“We only have 100,000 ICU beds in the United States. We could see 200,000 new patients that need critical care up to 2 million,” he said.

Statistical models meant to project the potential reach of COVID-19 suggest more than a million Americans could die if the nation does not take swift action to stop its spread.

Makary, who has been a contributor for The Hill, pointed to the shortage of coronavirus testing kits from the CDC as a reason for low case numbers.

I listened to 3 economic podcasts this morning, and literally, everyone was against it.

You are telling us about YOUR hospital. Glad to hear that YOUR hospital is testing, as appropriate.

Perhaps you are too busy with patients to really follow the news on this. There are many many stories of doctors and hospitals who cannot get the tests for their patients who meet the criteria.

You appear one of those you just yells at doctors that their attitude is all wrong. good luck with that.

Your attitude is astonishing, especially for a health care professional.
