Trade, status of travel between the countries (you're of course aware of the travel ban China put in place last year right?), levels of tourism and various other international hub considerations just for starters.
There are so many different factors to account for that cherry picking one country either way is a terrible way to look at things, especially when it's not even remotely over yet.
So being prepared had nothing do to with it? Making sure everyone has access to masks and testing kits? This had nothing to do with it? Sounds to me like you are cherry picking.
From the beginning Trump downplayed this virus and now that it's out of control he's trying to save face. Does Trump deserve to be re-elected after this is all done and our economy suffers one of the greatest setbacks in history?

The ending death rates for each nation will be primarily dependent on which nations can maintain the spread of the virus under levels at which their health care infrastructure can continue to function. Those nations will be close to the bottom, nations where it spreads unchecked and surpasses their ability to treat it will be near the top.
Yet, US had their first case more than 15 days later than Taiwan and now US has 16,000 cases

Stupid analogy considering those that travel daily to and from the U.S. and Taiwan and the differences in population. Plus you’re saying if the U.S. doesn’t have the lowest rate of CV in the world they’re a failure. Carry on.
