Two nations with low death rates from COVID-19 are Germany and S. Korea. Both emphasized wide-scale testing early on. I expect their economies will benefit.

Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson made a mistake when he originally published his corona virus model, leading people to believe this was going to be a much worse epidemic than it actually is. The death counts likely won't be any worse than an above average flu season, according to his newer model.

I've already said it in many threads, this is now turning out to be a legit nothing burger.

And they closed some of my favorite local restaurants up for this nonsense!
Give me a break!!!

You are nuts.

A relative of mine, young, healthy woman in her 30’s, tested positive (she works for the CDC) last week. She’s now in the ICU with no improvement in three days. Some “nothingburger”.

Political agendas are sort of pointless when life punches us in the face.

This whole thing is a massive nothing burger, a media contrived circus of hysteria.
Well, it looks like the fatality rate is around 10x of what we see for the flu in a typical season. But we do have vaccines. The common cold is far less fatal than either. There’s a lot of unknowns, but what we do know is that the fatality rate appears to be right in the sweet spot where it won’t kill so many people who contract it that it will burn itself out. So again I say that a lot of this is quite understandable. Justified? Reasonable? I do t know how to answer that.

That is correct. This is not a seasonal viral infection. It is unlike anything I have seen in 30 years of practice. It is shameful that people are dismissing the danger of this pandemic.

Nice timing. Right after Congress passes the biggest pork package in the history of the US.

I have no idea. I didn't even hear about it. Might be a fake fake news story he concocted or it was some tweet or something.

Edit: apparently Gov. Inslee of Washington said "We don't need back-up, We need Tom Brady" I'm guessing Brady is a leader as much as I don't like Brady, he is a leader. Trump isn't.

And I do think that we should have had a national stockpile and I blame Bush, Obama and Trump. Ever since SARS, we should have planned that this COULD happen.

Is there also language in that legislation to prevent Nancy Pelosi accessing money for her Napa hotel Auberge Du Soleil?

That’s a bit too tin foil for me. I can’t tell you whether or not the actual response is reasonable, but IMHO it’s quite understandable.

And then we have Covid-19 which has already likely spread to millions of Americans, but most will probably not realize they have it because the symptoms are very mild for the vast majority of people -- also meaning they likely won't get tested for it either.

Thus far, it's suspected that one thousand people have died from the virus so far in the U.S. -- although many of these deaths might also be related to underlying pre-existing conditions.

You have a far better chance of being killed by your doctor prescribing you the wrong drug or making a medical error than you do from dying from corona virus.

I cannot believe how idiotic our government is, basically collapsing our economy over something akin to the common cold or a strong seasonal flu. If the economy totally collapses and doctors & nurses refuse to go to work because they aren't getting paid, then you'll find out quickly what a real crisis is!

People need to stop living in fear and get back to work.

It is lunacy like this that will make the pandemic worse.
