Florida and Michigan jumped by over 20% yesterday, over 1000 new cases.

Agreed. Does DeSantis not listen to Trump, Pence, of Fauci? They have all acknowledged shelter-in-place is a good idea and Fauci recommended it. Issue the damn order.

Meanwhile, I guess we hit 4,000 deaths overnight.

Is COVID-19 the same as AIDS, Ebola, or Marburg? They are all fatal viral diseases, so they can all be compared to one another. No, they can't. They have different mechanisms of action, different signs and symptoms, incubation periods, treatments, means of transmission, etc. . .
No, we will not stop comparing the Chinese CV to the flu. The flu is common but kills lots of people and we don't shut down the economy every single year when flu season arrives.

Everyone understands it is not the same thing, but it is similar in impact with regard to death rate, and more people get the flu than Ebola in the US.

Anyone have a link for that chart?

That chart must exist somewhere. Trump being the "successful business man" that he is, would never make random decisions without data and statistics to back them up. Would he?

Yes, the magic of the free market with localities bidding on ventilators. The medical supply companies make a killing, while hospitals go into debt. There is nothing more "magical" than profiteering during a crisis, I tell you.

1% of those infected, not 1% of US population. Get it now? Its less than 1%, actually.

Pseudo-conservative? This pandemic is why you conserve. So you have it when you need it. Now _IS_ the time to take action to prop up the economy, when people are sitting at home worrying about how they are going to pay the bills.
Yes, pseudo-conservative is a person who pretends to be conservative when his/her party is in minority, but turns out to be 100% pro big government / big spending, when his/her party is in power. They'd be screaming their heads off if a Dem closed down the economy and demanded $6 trillion bail-out, but they are all for it since it was done by their fellow pseudo-conservative.

Pseudo-conservative is another word for fake conservative.

And it's not Trump ginning up panic, it's the media and their moronic cheerleaders. Everyone knows that.
I don't know how you are unaware of it, but Trump appears in person every day to foment the fear. Just yesterday he went on about how 240K Americans will die. If he can prolong it, I would not be surprised if he cancels the elections in Nov, and asked the States to form the electoral collage to elect him for 2nd term.

Now, "let them die,' is their motto?

Death Rate is only around 0.66%, much lower than earlier estimates
This is also just a rough estimate, but it should dampen down the fear level a little bit.

... is just dumb though. A double-strength flu season with hundreds of thousands of extra deaths worldwide ain't nothing.

Treatment for flu is at 47% of those that get it. It wasn’t a statement of hospitalization but of treatment.

Whether or not the virus is as bad as we are being told, the government now knows they can turn off the economy, and put the population under full control with ease as long as they can persuade people they are in danger and that the government is there to protect them. Its actually quite worrysome.
But that has always been the case. I never doubted the ability of the government to exercise control over the population. They have always done so. They do it through fear to get us to voluntarily comply in a democracy.

You know what's magical? Demanding 25 million taxpayer dollars for the Kennedy Center, professor. That's industrial grade good thinking right there, isn't it? And that's just the tip of the iceberg! How many ventilators can you buy for 25 million?
