Umm, a death rate of "only" 0.66% would still mean potentially hundreds of thousands of Americans could die if we assume the majority of people could become infected over the next year or so. We haven't faced this amount of blood letting since at least WWII.

Now that we know the death rate is much lower than previously thought, can we please stop all the crazy hysteria? And can we please re-open all of our businesses and get the economy going again so we don't enter into another great depression?
I hope that is true.

That having been said. I want to live in a nation that will assume the worst, when it does not know the truth, to protect the lives of its people. Nobody should pretend like "They knew". You did not. When this thing first started exploding in China and then other places.....don't pretend like you KNEW that it was actually no worse than the flu. There is no way in hell that you could know that. What you were doing is GAMBLING. You were willing to GAMBLE with the lives of potentially hundreds of thousands of Americans. Lives don't bounce back once gone....economies bounce back. All it needs is more debt that its never going to pay back anyway, to re stimulate the economy.

I hope this thing turns out to not be that bad....but I still don't want to catch it or have a loved one catch it to find out. However, NOBODY KNEW.

Anyone have a link for that chart?

Some Fox News hosts and guests, including Kudlow, were aggressively pushing the “ cure is worse than the disease” thing before Trump let loose with Easter Sunday. Some hosts made it clear to their viewers “ doctors should not be the determining voices in policy matters”.

Subsequent to the beautiful Easter Sunday thing, the Trump Admin framed it as “aspirational”.

We learned yesterday that according to models, 1.5-2.2 million people would have died of complications of Covid-19 if government had done nothing, as some have advocated for all along.

We have seen time and again, the difference between what Trump says, tweets and does.

How about on logic and behavior?

After all, the GOP forbid hope when we signed 20 million new up for health insurance and vastly improved the benefits......

Then they forbad hope as they threw about 7 million off the roles recently....

And, NOW, you want us to pray and hope? No, reality is a much sweeter truth. What is is, and I really doubt that combat medics in Vietnam were thinking about "hope" as they were running from soldier to soldier. No - they were taking action. Too busy to hope

Yes, pseudo-conservative is a person who pretends to be conservative when his/her party is in minority, but turns out to be 100% pro big government / big spending, when his/her party is in power. They'd be screaming their heads off if a Dem closed down the economy and demanded $6 trillion bail-out, but they are all for it since it was done by their fellow pseudo-conservative.

Pseudo-conservative is another word for fake conservative.

I don't know how you are unaware of it, but Trump appears in person every day to foment the fear. Just yesterday he went on about how 240K Americans will die. If he can prolong it, I would not be surprised if he cancels the elections in Nov, and asked the States to form the electoral collage to elect him for 2nd term.
LOL. I was talking about the death rate as the percentage as a function of the population, not of the infected, because I've read 80% of people will have the virus and not even know it. So OK, let's adjust. We will use 272 million for our model. Now we are at .88%. It's not even 1% of those who were infected. Get it now?

Just because i approve of spending more in the face of a worldwide pandemic doesn't mean I'm a closet socialist. I'm spending a little more personally as well and I'm helping some people with a bit of financial assistance. In case you haven't noticed, these are not normal times.

Trump gives a brief every day to provide information. You and the leftist media are spinning it as fomenting fear. I would rather have it straight from the WH than any .. any leftist propaganda mill. Birx and Fauci are unassailable but I'm sure notable virologist Sean Penn is a close second.

Definitely with facts.

No one is saying to fight it with hope. Hope is definitely not a bad thing. It’s far better than panic. People get stupid when panicked.

Gotta take all of it with a grain of salt because the Game Plan now is that if 200K plus die Trump wants to tell you how many he saved.

I surely do not want the total to reach that point - but, no matter what point it reaches, Trump will claim a great job - the best ever - and subtract the dead from a figure much bigger.

If 500K die he'll say it would be been 2.5M and he saved 80% of us. Watch.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not good at math, but the number of know cases in the US (as I'm writing this) is 188,88, the number of deaths so far is 4,066, and the number of recovered cases is 7,251. Wouldn't that be a 2% death rate?

People, this is China's fault. Not Trump's. It will never be Trump's fault no matter how many threads you start on it, no matter how many Hollywood morons call Trump a murderer, or how many leftist journalists, with a little bit of processed Chinese food stuck on the ends of their noses, bleat on about Trump's supposed failings. This is not going to hurt him come election time. When the CV subsides, Trump wins. And it will subside.
