I would argue that Trump, the Repubs, and the Dems just spent a few trillion dollars that they probably didn't need to spend all because the media over-hyped this.

I feel there was a bit of panic in the beginning as the media started to sensationalize things, but now that we know it's not much more that a typical flu season, most countries are returning to normal, except here. Our media (CNN, NBC, MSNBC, FOX, etc) are in lockstep with playing politics and the health of the American people seems to not be the agenda here.

Overall, we rate the New York Times Left-Center biased based on word and story selection that moderately favors the left, but highly factual and considered one of the most reliable sources for news information due to proper sourcing and well respected journalists/editors. The problem is that when the media has shown such a leftwing bias and anti-Trump bias since day 1, I treat them as being a hostile force and not one to be trusted. Thus, the premise of the OP wouldn't surprise me. The media as a whole has a long way before it re-earns the trust of the American people.
