I know a Loony Lefty Trump hater. He posted a photo of his check on facebook with the Don's signature redacted with a thick black sharpie line. Yes the guy is that petty.
It is kind of funny how this guy from the #resist #not my president crowd suddenly turned into a #where is my check hypocrite.
I wanted to tell him that the bank wouldn't cash the altered check but my day is always better when I don't engage this fool.
Why would anyone want to go back to work to possibly risk catching the virus when it is easier and in some cases more profitable to stay home and let the Government take care of you. This sure is a good test for socialism. Bernie must be smacking his head saying "I told you we could make it work"
There are thousands of micro economies in the US. What matters is what your wage buys in your local economy. Housing is the single greatest line item in terms of local cost of living.
It is one of the key reasons why a Federal Minimum Wage makes no sense.

Nope. The Dems had him between a rock and a hard place. Took three years of trying, and then this virus appeared out of nowhere. They saw their opportunity to keep people unemployed, and they took it.
Why ELSE would you demand that unskilled workers making $1600 a week get $3500 if they remain unemployed? Because the Dems WANT people unemployed, at least until Election Day. Even the NYT wrote a piece questioning how high the unemployment rate needs to be in order for Trump to lose. (I think they're wondering if they overshot.)
Which unskilled workers are making $1600/week? And how are they now making $3500? Where did you come up with these numbers?

Yes. I pointed out earlier that the Democrats pushed through this "overpayment for not working," thus making it nearly impossible for struggling businesses, once they are able to open, to find staff. Especially on the lower-end of the scale, nobody is going to give up $3000 a month or more for remaining unemployed and instead take an unskilled, tedious job paying $1600 a month. It's a sneaky way the Dems have of keeping the unemployment rate artificially high - at least up until Election Day.

Restaurants, salons, etc cannot find workers willing to come back to work now because they can earn easily 2 times what they made prior to the shutdown due to the original CARES Act. Much of that money will be paid through Dec 31.
There is also a good chance they will extend these benefits with the next Bill.
Weird that someone so against socialism and handouts would gleefully sign up for them. Huh. Seems a bit hypocritical, no?
My husband is not working right now but he also didn't apply for unemployment. We both will always vote for a bigger safety net, but we personally don't believe in using it without a need, and since I'm still working, we haven't needed it, so we're leaving that for others who do need it.
I am shocked (not really) at how many boot-strappers have fallen over themselves in the rush to get in line for the maximum amount of government money the minute they found themselves in a less-than-ideal situation. Aren't these the same people who preach nonstop about how everyone should be prepared for every situation?

Right. Trump has all the power in the world until the minority party somehow manages to singlehandedly strong-arm him into signing a bill that none of the nation's conservatives will take advantage of due to their superior financial-planning skills.

When people ask who will pay for all this, Trumponomics claim 'the left' is spending all this money, despite of the fact that the checks say "President Donald Trump' on them, and there is even a follow up letter to remind everyone that the money is from him.
The truth is that Trump took this money from "we the people" and is in process of re-redistributing it to people who dont even need it.

The credit taking & blame-shifting is classic Trump / GOP. This is, and has always been, what you get when GOP is in power, and when they are not in power they keep calling this behavior "socialist". They did this with massive bail-outs in 2007-08 and they are doing it now, except that now its even bigger.
