Daily cases have been back in the 25-30K range the last few days, about the same as they were at what we had been calling the peak. If those people are going to die, we would not see that for several weeks. If the mortality rate here has been 4-6%, you would be looking at 1-2K deaths a day again. Hopefully this doesn't happen.

In the last 72 hours there were 93,006 new cases reported (see the new cases chart on worldometer), a sharp uptick from prior weeks. Therefore in about 10 to 14 days we can expect 4,824 more deaths, assuming that the 5.187% rate holds. That 4824 represents a daily rate of 1608 per day. Even if the fatality rate is less than 5%, those 93,006 new cases are going to cause a significant bump in the death numbers, unfortunately.
Numbers are wrong - as soon as you go with "known" cases. There are many more people who have had Covid than the "known" cases. Death rate is far less than 1%.

It is looking probable that the actual fatality rate is less than 1% but we won't be able to quantify that until a number of tests can provide a statistical probability or nearly everyone has been tested.

Be wary, the Wuhu flu can still kill ya, especially if you're elderly and/or obese.

How do you know that the death rate is far less than 1%? Or are you just speculating? Do you mean specifically in the US?

I just want to understand your point of view here: You are celebrating 560 deaths per day, being the low, which you admit is under-reported due to weekends, and also admit it's the lowest number in almost 3 months. You acknowledge that even if the under-reported numbers were accurate, that it would project to over 200k deaths per year. You state this at a time when positive tests are rising (even if during more testing), when hospitalizations are rising, and all during a time when, according to your own leader (Trump), cases would be held down in the summer, due to tempuratures and miracles.

While this is happening, your POTUS is either admitting to supressing the numbers to make his bad response look better, or else he (per his explanation) is joking about it, while he tried (and luckily failed) to bring 19k people together in close quarters, to celebrate (now get this) "him", because that is a worthy cause.

You call this all "good news".

While I grant you, the National Average is dropping, I refer you to the Trump base interpretation of the numbers when they were highest. That was "it's all NYC, if you take NYC out of the picture, then it's not so bad". Well now NYC is recovering (which is being reported), so if you continue to ignore that, like your side did when people were dying at alarming rates, I think you'll now find that the rest of they country is picking up with cases, hospitalizations, and possibly deaths. Oddly, this was projected, and now it is happening.

Question for you, Toyman: Did they report all of this on Fox News, Breitbart and InfoWars?

It's a hoax, that's why the Trump admin, made all the rally attendees sign a waiver dismissing the campaign of any liability if they get sick. Such a hoax.

Yes, these states with a surge in new cases aren't seeing a surge in deaths, thankfully and for whatever reason. Even Arizona's total currently stands at 184 deaths per million population, and Florida's is at 147, despite the media trying to convince you that both places are charnel houses.

Trump has a habit of encouraging violence (rough up the protestors, the media) and generally harmful behavior (drink bleach, throttle covid testing)... but then later his defenders say "oh, he was obviously joking." or, "you libs are just putting words into his mouth." I don't understand why this has become an acceptable standard for the behavior of our nation's senior most leader.

I'm pretty sure that this was the only point this person was trying to make. I'm not sure what the rest of what you wrote is about. But you do bolster his point that this news "upsets liberals." So I ask: why does this news upset you?
