What’s the problem exactly with Dixie or the Southern Heritage for that matter?
The Dixie Chicks should have retained their name and not bent to the will of the sadly misguided control freaks destroying this nation.
Jefferson Airplane became Jefferson Starship, then became just plain Starship.
The Yardbirds became Led Zeppelin.
The Quarrymen became the Beatles.
Smile became Queen.
Bands change names all the time, as the above shows. If the Dixie Chicks want to become The Chicks, I don't see a problem. It's their band, their music, and it's their problem if they don't succeed under the new name.
So I want to see if I understand this correctly: they want to disassociate themselves from the South because the police killed a black dude in the northern-most state in the continental U.S. Am I missing something here on the way from A to Z?
