And the scientist who released a video informing the world that China's government was definitely suppressing information, who suddenly died a day or two later, due to "complications from COVID."

who are you referring to? the doctor that broke protocol to disclose an unknown, novel virus via social media under active investigation, or the scientist who claims the virus was wuhan lab created?
either way, both have already been debunked as false.

ignoring the numbers, by the looks of what's happening on the ground today (i.e. they have mostly resumed normal lives and our cases are rising with talks of future lockdowns), I'd say yes, without a doubt their govt handled it far better than ours.
That whole idea that China is bad and wrong just because it is (somewhat) communist, is so absurd and outdated.
Let's face it, they are doing a fine job, and if the West were not so ideologically biased and intolerant, we would learn from China instead of condemning everything and anything just because it is Chinese.

the US gov/media propaganda machines are powerful institutions.
people will believe news sources from the opposing political side are biased, but can't imagine that news regarding china could possibly be propaganda.

thailand gets 12M tourists from China every year, yet there are under 4k cases there. same with neighboring vietnam, Laos, etc. all have low cases.
