I had no idea homeless are being HOUSED in hotels? Who is paying for all of that?
IIR 75% FEMA (all of us) and 25% NY. Good deal, huh?

All the transplants I meet here in TN escaped from where they were from and make it clear they didn't drag NJ/NY/MA/CA/CT/IL with them.

They make it clear up front.

NYC relocations accelerating at ‘substantial’ pace, local movers say

Even as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has leveled off in recent weeks, moving companies say they remain inundated with requests from people leaving New York City.

By July 15 Oz Moving was booked to capacity for the remainder of the month, and while it is always busy over the summer, 2020 marked the first time in 27 years the company was unable to take on additional jobs so early on.

“Insanely busy and for the last 3 months we couldn’t keep up with the demand,†Sapir said.

Lol, yep. I welcome everyone, but yes please leave the California ******** there.

After the initial shock of how much less in taxes they're paying and how much further their dollars go they realize maybe voting blue is a mistake.

For example, my brother in law pays $6200 in property taxes for a dumpy, $99,000 house in Rochester, NY.

In their mortgage payment more money goes to property taxes than the mortgage, that is pure insanity. Insane.

We pay $1300 a year in taxes for a house that is so much better you can't even compare, really.

Well we're moving south next year but I vote conservative so a Democrat probably won't be getting my vote because I don't want our new home state becoming what we're escaping from.

Realtors in the WNY region are thrilled with all the NYC transplants moving here. Houses are being sold within a couple of days of listing and going for over the asking price by quite a bit.

I watch one of the NYC rental vloggers just because I like to see how these people are raped in NYC when it comes to rent. Most have to have roommates to afford these apts. This is what $2000 can get you if you want to live by yourself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKl7EvfH_qQ

He has said that the prices of the apts is coming down due to so many being available. If people can work remotely they can buy a $200,000 home here in a nice suburb with a $1200 monthly mortgage payment. If they had to fly to NYC even once a week for meetings - they can get a cheap flight from Jet Blue or SW for $200 or less and still be paying less each month than renting an apt.

I just met a family who moved into our division and they are from NYC (Manhattan). They said the city has been destroyed first by Covid and then the riots and it's no longer safe to stroll around in Central Park. They also said they moved here for other factors (job, weather, change of scenery) and are glad to start fresh here.
