No, he didn't. Stop telling that lie. That statement isn't an admission of anything. It says nothing about what Trump wants or why he wants it, but it does make it clear that he isn't blocking anything.

Post Office could easily turn more profit if it could CHOOSE which routes it could eliminate. unprofitable delivery to rural America cost money that the more populous areas subsidize . Any price increases also must be approved by Congress, which Congress is reluctant to do.

Hopefully people drop off their ballots at the elections office drop-box ahead of time, or vote in-person. Or mail their ballot 4 weeks early. Even if sent early, the ballots might be "lost" within the postal system.

I am voting in-person.
I am voting in person also. Don’t want my vote to get lost. I heard they are also removing mailboxes. Nothing surprises me with this administration.

The Postal Board of Governors, who basically approve anything the Postmaster General wants to do must go. They are the ones who approve or disapprove any rate hikes or operational changes. It's basically a ol' boys Republican-dominated club that keeps the Post Office under its heel.

Has anyone actually walked around and noticed blue boxes before this became an election issue? Blue mail collection boxes have been in a process systematic removal for the past 25 years

That's for sure! They're about as rare as Telephone Booths.

That would make sense. Make the post office more profitable by reducing the frequency of delivery to rural areas and charge more for rural areas. In fact, it makes so much sense that we should implement that right away. If Trump can declare war on blue state governors with some of the moves he's made, this would seem not only financially sound, but a perfect response.

You honestly think that would solve the USPS financial problems? lol.

Reduce/eliminate mail delivery and charge more in rural areas ... if that's the case then the money taken in taxes from those in rural areas to prop up the USPS should either be reduced or eliminated. Then you can pay more for your postage and pay more out of your check in taxes just so you can get your junk mail.

On the flip side, maybe USPS should reduce/eliminate services in blue war zone cities, for the safety of the USPS workers, right?

Well, considering these are the days of email and text messages, along with a handful of other ways to communicate and transfer messages...YES!

There will always be a certain percentage of people trying to beat a dead horse back to life.

This is very similar to horse and buggies actually...is it appropriate to keep horse and buggy around, even though motorized vehicles are the preferred method of transportation?

Bingo.

As usual, the urban "hell holes" are subsidizing their rural neighbors.

If this whole business was actually about making the USPS more cost efficient, the first thing that would have been done is to shed the unprofitable parts of the business -- the rural routes and the small town post offices.

Rural people can have their mail delivered to mail boxes in metro areas.
