Nope. Is it your position that the officers should have allowed this vicious criminal to retrieve a weapon from the car and execute either them or other innocent people? He had already showed a wanton disregard for the lives of others. If it were you or your family there-would you have just allowed him to retrieve a gun (as LE had every reason to expect)?
They surely do need more and better training. I'll definitely agree with that. Unfortunately, this whole BS #DefundThePolice and #DisbandThePolice is going get themexactly the opposite. Unfortunate that the Democrats are so obedient to the rampaging mobs and their idiotic demands. We might have been able to vastly improve the quality of policing in America otherwise.

I agree with this. Also agree that the Democratic mayors of some of these cities are giving the violent elements of the protesters too much slack.

I honestly don't think cops need more practical training.
I am 11 year veteran in LE. There are posters on city-data who have never served a day in the patrol vehicle, but they think they are the subject-matter-expert in LE work after watching a few episodes of COPS and CSI.
So I say we should invest in more big screen TVs at every police station and have cops watch COPS and CSI as part of their training. Maybe one day they will become SME like many posters from citydata.

You are making up scenarios to justify a shooting in the back.
I will ask again, what could the man have done to police with his back turned toward them, actually walking away? ... and he had children in the car? ... Discharging a weapon should be a last resort, firing into a man's back with children in the vicinity does not meet the professional standard.
If this exact same scenario had taken place between two people, neither being police, and the facts came out that one of the fighters broke off and went to his car with his own children inside and the other one followed closely behind and shot him in the back right there and then, there would be no question about this.
I don't know for sure but I suspect that this incident would have been handled a lot differently if the officers had been wearing body cameras.
I think Jacob Blake is going to end up being one very rich paraplegic.
Hopefully for the women in his new high-end neighborhood, his baby-maker was made permanently flaccid from one of the shots.
