End of the day, be it good food or bad food, the equation doesn't change, just the excuses. Discipline + knowledge = weight loss. Food doesn't really matter if you know the calories in the food and stick to a daily number.


A Big Mac has 563 calories.

I don't often agree with you but this is 100% on point.

The amount of healthy muscle mass you have is positively correlated with surviving illness.

The amount of adipose tissue you have is negatively correlated with the same outcome.

I've always said that America has too much cheaply available food.

Maybe it's time to cut back on the supply side.

If I look in the mirror and see a big fat slob I will know and understand why I am fat and accept responsibility for letting it happen. I will then stop shoving twinkies down my gullet and eat a salad or two along with some exercise. My gosh people when are we going to stop blaming those evil corporations for our own personal failings. It is not McDonald’s fault your fat...it is yours. It is not Jack Daniels fault you’re an alcoholic...it is yours. It is not the tobacco companies fault you smoke....it is yours. They provide you with the products you want, you buy them. They did not tell you to overindulge in them. You chose to do that.

We are doomed as a society if the view of this poster is becoming the norm.

You should probably clarify here. All calories are the same as it is simply a measure of energy content. All SOURCES of calories aren’t the same on energy expenditure.

Yes this is one of the problems to our obesity epidemic. The available convenience of ultra processed foods is alot more available now than it was 30 yrs ago. Now I can just pick up my phone without have to move an inch to have all the processed foods delivered right to my doorstep.
