Humm...then what about segregation. Interesting. It was argued that segregation was Biblical and SCOTUS did not accept that.
The original ruling that was overruled said in part:
“Almighty God created the races…and he placed them on separate continents…. The fact he separated the races shows that He did not intend for the races to mix.”
Are we now at the whim of each Justice's religion? Not even the Ten Commandments are the same for Roman Catholics, Jews and Protestants. Does this mean she doesn't support the death penalty? The Roman Catholic commandment is Thou Shall Not Kill. It is the Jewish commandment which says You Must Not Murder.
What's next? The Jewish Justices running their cases through their local beth din? (A beth din is a rabbinical court; for the Orthodox it is still used by many to decide civil cases rather than go to the civil authorities.)
A Justice can't even pretend to subscribe to originalism in the Constitution. They deliberately left out the Bible and for good reason. The English Civil War was only a century and a few odd years before.
I'm thinking more along the lines of several older guys testifying that in grade school, Amy showed them her underpants at recess!
And, her record should indicate under other crimes whether she has let her religion make the decisions.
I think fearing that one member of the SC has moral and religious convictions that would turn the country into a theocracy is probably a little much!
I really think this was probably cherry-picked, so basing it on one article would probably not be the best way to make a decision on what she may or may not believe.
The line is very blurry, as in a baby born from a botched abortion, isn't the procedure to kill it? I know there was some controversy over that. Also, pulling the baby into the birth canal and killing it. I know the Dems oppose any regulation on the mother choosing to stop the heartbeat of her preborn baby. (Even PP agrees that abortion stops a beating heart.)
Amy is a Catholic, and they fear her faith as a Catholic will threaten abortion rights if she sees her faith as more important than the Constitution. Practicing Catholics generally view abortion as wrong, but then again, Biden doesn't appear to be a practicing Catholic with his vile sexual habits with women and little girls. They are simply both Catholic.
She went to an all girls Catholic high school (St. Mary’s Dominican), so she may have gone to an all girls K-8 school.
The two other most prominent alumnae of St. Mary’s Dominican......Arthel Neville (a weekend anchor at Fox News), and Lisa P. Jackson (EPA head during the Obama administration, and currently a VP at Apple. She was featured in the recent Apple online only event (led by Tim Cook) on 9/15/2020).
And it a complete fabrication from the mind of the author and not based in reality. Any words, phrases or similarities people ascribe to real life in the USA (or anywhere for that matter) are their own fantasies.
It's only a big deal because she is Trump's pick. And this is only the ice breaker. By Wednesday the list of things that are wrong with Amy Barrett will be long. CNN will have something new to chew on.
All they have tonight is, no Republicans were wearing masks at the nomination ceremony today and the rally tonight.
Yes, the Bible does indeed precedes the constitution and the ten commandments should be the universal standard!
Our constitution is what we should live by not some book which was written in biblical Hebrew and translated over the years. Which testament should be the universal standard, the old or the new.
