I aptly summed up how people think of those who cling on to delusion. Get it right.

this is true. ive voiced actual concern if this election were overturned. i mean after all the hysteria over the "win" .....God help us. but your actually right. we really do have to hold the line because freedom can be taken so slowly we scarcely notice. and so blatently, we dont believe it.

In fact, reading this thread just has me shaking my head. The sanctimonious and hostile attitude of these liberals just jumps off the screen.
Another good example. Is it really condescending to point out the facts? I guess if you are so insecure in your own beliefs, I might seem that way. (Now THAT might have been condescending.)

But Rachael, honestly, if I'm so wrong, how come you, Trump or any of his supporters can't show me some evidence? I pointed at the person who gave a list of bad facts that are easily disproven.

Maybe you can tell me Rachel, how can you address someone like Rowingfriend without seeming condescending. Either they are intentionally lying, or blatantly ignorant of the facts. Read what he/she wrote, and tell me a better way to address them. That is REALLY the point of this entire discussion. Surely you don't agree with every "fact" they posted, I only called out one of them. Help me out here, if YOU are SINCERE.

I can ignore RowingFriend, but I choose not to ignore people closer to me. And I'm a "he", for what it's worth. Doesn't really matter in context though.

For everyone else who understands how US Elections are run, how are you dealing with people you otherwise love and respect, who are using conspiracy theories to still believe there is any doubt.

How do you respond to someone who thinks any "facts" that disagree with them are fake, but any facts that do agree with them are indisputable?

How do you convince them that both US and Int'l election watchers have overwhelmingly said this was a clean election?

How do you argue with them when they claim that election monitors were denied access, when in fact all the LEGAL montors were allowed to do their work?

How do you make them understand that just because Trump said there was fraud doesn't mean there was fraud? Why has he not presented the first bit of evidence, if there is any?

How do you convince someone how crazy it is to believe that all the courts, all the news media, all of our allies, and all of the states are able to manage a conspiracy JUST to get Trump out of office?

How do you convince them that they believed the results in 2016, even though the were much closer, but now, in a landslide, they think it's fake?

I'm really asking sincerely. Someone I love a lot still believes the election is a fraud. They claim to be informed, but if they did the slightest bit of learning how elections work, they'd realize it is not possible to steal on the scale they are claiming. They would see the lawsuits, even if ending in their favor, would not overturn the election.

I'm really struggling. I respect this person, but their intention to ignore reality makes me question their sincerety on other issues. How can I constructively allow them to see that even if they don't like the results, they are legit.

Can you show the light to someone who doesn't want to see it?
Christ on a cracker.

Can you not find anything else to talk about other than politics?

If not, you're part of the problem in that relationship.

My point is that asking how you can get someone with a different take on something “to see the light” translates to you are right and the other person is wrong. How can I get you “to see the light” that President Trump was actually a good person, albeit it with a bad personality!

You’re a “he”? I’m always guessing wrong. I thought for sure you were a “she,” although I don’t know why.

I came in late to this thread and may have missed the facts Rowing listed. I’ll scroll up and find them. But as far as you claiming there’s no evidence of fraud, of course there is. The question really is did enough of it occur to flip the election, and can that be proven?

Just to be clear, I would never say to the person "see the light". I'm talking candidly here, because we all know we're here to debate politics.

And Chuckity, we have a million wonderful things to talk about, but this one is what is bothering me right now. Would you feel better if I made a long post talking about the fine dinner we had together the other day? Or maybe I could fill you in on our ongoing differences about what constitutes "good music" (we have a lot of laughs about that topic.)

We have plenty in common, but to your point, Politics DOES belong on the P&OC forum. Things we agree on doesn't really rise to Politics or "other contraversies". Just saying....

Ok, I’m back after looking at Rowling’s list of facts. The ONLY one I would question is that there were 6 swing states that stopped counting. I’m not sure how many of them there were. But I do know that I was watching the returns late at night when one state, seemingly out of the blue, announced they were quitting for the night and would resume counting in the morning. I was stunned. NEVER has a state simply stopped counting. The count goes on all night if needed.

There was a tent for a protest saying Trump won at a local parking lot. I successfully ignored them, did not riot, did not shout, was peaceful, and went about my day.

I try not to argue with people that dont understand facts. They see the world in their own light. There are discrepancies in every election, this one too. Not enough to change the outcome. Even when Trump won. He still complained about the 3 million more popular votes that Hillary got. Not a graceful winner or loser.
