A Leftist rant... If Nancy Pelosi would quit playing her stupid games and quit packing the bills with all the craziness she wants... Which more of that added pork isn’t going to help the average citizen... ONE SINGLE BIT, something might get passed to help the average citizen during these tough times.
Well, the media and Big Tech are now the true power in the country and fully control the storyline... Why don’t we hear them speaking up for the average people??
Funny, but they’re pretty freaking quiet... Unlike a month ago.
America, we’ve just been played!! All I can say is good luck to us all and hopefully, as individuals, we can make it through this crisis.
And Yes, COVID is real. I just lost my brother to it.
What the folks waiting in food bank lines really need is a heavy dose of rugged individualism. They need to take some initiative and grab those bootstraps!
After all, if they worked harder and were better Christians they wouldn’t be in the predicament that they are in!
Sound about right, MAGA folks?
sounds like an *******, or one of Pelosi's fans who have used this line of insult for 4 years now.
Moscow Mitch has already said that most Republicans on the Hill think that there has already been more than enough done. You can interpret that how you want.
Why do we have free or assisted meals at school? Why can parents feed the kids well enough but when the kid starts school, the parents need help? They can feed them in summer when schools not in session but not when schools in session?
Why feed your kids when someone will do it cheaper or for free?
First of all, how do you know how much these children have to eat during the summer months when school is not in session?
What does school lunch programs have to do with the state of our economy right now?
It's really sad that people prefer to keep their heads in the sand and to point fingers at all of the perceived injustices in the world, rather than acknowledge the truth of what's going on that's driving middle class Americans to go to food pantries for food right now.

The problem is that the politicians that really are trying to do right by the people of this country are then labeled as radicals or too far left. Bernie is a good example of this. I truly believe he wants to do right for this country and make life better for everyone. Some people hear this and then say he is all for socialism, too extreme, etc. These same people will then keep electing idiots like Pelosi and McConnell and scream to the rafters when a new stimulus deal isn't done.
Fact of the matter is that the people of this country need a cash infusion. Some need it to get by, buy food, maybe get their kids a gift for the holidays. Some don't need it, but will cycle it back through the economy. Some don't need it and will just save it. In the end though the economy and the people need this.
I agree with you.

Yes, but its not just due to the pandemic. Anytime you see a mass food give away you see the same thing. Most likely more now because a lot more people are unemployed now so they have time to go to the food give a ways.
I'm sure it is going to help out those who have lost jobs/work supplement their food expenditures. It is a good thing just not an indication that people are going hungry.
Undoubtedly, many of the people we are seeing in food lines are there for the first time. The stat du jour is 40% of a recent survey said they had been food insecure for the first time. Without question, the vast majority in the food lines don't have money for food. And of that vast majority, the majority are "charitable cases" - that is, everyone sympathizes with their inability that's not of their own doing to put food on the table.
In case all of that is too arcane or detailed, it means - there are some folks that have no business getting the free food. Not the majority by any means, but a measurable some.
First of all, how do you know how much these children have to eat during the summer months when school is not in session?
I have eyes. Too many need less food, not more. As if a plethora of those on free and assisted lunches are starving.
In my old neighborhood the 3 closest schools were between 90-95% free or assisted lunches. Are you actually going to tell me that parents are not feeding their kids enough?
I know what it is. The kids are like bears. They fatten up during the school year, then over the summer, since the don't get fed much, they loose it. Of course, that's it.

It's about the question of IF there are many food lines, what has changed from Dec 2013 when the UE rate was the same and there didn't seem to be a lot of food lines?

Again -

Seems like we as a society have to choose between two risks:
Someone in a nice car scoring free food
Someone's kids going hungry
Your mileage may vary, but I for one am sort of thinking that the latter risk is the less acceptable one.
which assumes an all-or-nothing approach. Or "as long as we're helping those in need, it doesn't matter how much misuse or abuse of the system occurs"
