The MLS in my area did away with the word "Master" last year because it was deemed offensive. I think it is really stupid. Have we become so weak minded that we can't differentiate the word Master when we refer to the largest ensuite bedroom in the house and a guy that owned slaves 150 years ago?
Who was offended by the term master that we had to change it to appease them?
Calling it Master bedroom is racist...where does this all end...
It’s even happening in computers, fire alarm systems and security systems. For example in fire alarm monitoring systems there would be a main panel, in say the main office or clubhouse of a community, and then they had slave panels for each building. Now they’re all equal and one alarm could be for the clubhouse or building 15 or building 30, firefighters guess (joking)!
The point is to get rid of hierarchies except hierarchies that allow identity politics (lived experience, positionality, etc.).
The term owners suite has been in use for a long time. It emphasizes that it is not just a bedroom., In today's McMansions, the owners suite includes a huge bathroom, one or two walk in closets and a sitting area. Calling it owners suite conveys an aura of opulence. It's all marketing; has nothing to do with racism. Where do you come up with that?
And there are plenty of others. Honestly, they just need to go to “primary bedroom” or “primary suite” because the natural progression will be objection to the term “owner”.
By the way, the real estate industry had already begun this trend due to female and LGTB buyers. I’m not sure why we have recently stopped understanding that words can, and often do, have multiple meanings.

I was recently looking at a couple of listings for houses for sale in my neighbourhood, and it was listed as "primary" bedroom. Seems reasonable, although the ensuite bath attached to that bedroom alone might have also been a clue.
lol. I don't need the gooberment telling me what to call things. Why don't they do good things for this country and stop wasting times on this stupid stuff? Is Sleepy Joe going to go talk to world leaders and brag telling them that today he decided to call master bedrooms now owners suites? he will get laughed at all around the world.
What about debates? Anyone think this will be brought up. Hilarious.
What's with this crazies. It's all about race 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Exactly how is this helping us?

I have recently seen it called a "Main Suite" in advertising of new homes. Stupid. Those people with a manual transmission have a master and a slave cylinder which provide the motion from the clutch pedal to the clutch. All cars have a master cylinder for their brakes. It's a house, or car, for crying out loud.
