If you're looting a store after a police shooting you don't give a damn about who got shot and are actually happy to have an excuse to steal stuff. Change my mind.
I feel for the family though because loosing someone you love is never easy.
Why should the cops just simply let him go to his house and arrest him later? For starters, the guy could just decide to bail and leave the state knowing he's likely to be arrested later.
Another situation where not complying (assuming as more details come out) leads to this.
I don't support riots, but I understand. Often times with riots after police brutality (King, Brown, Floyd, et. all); the riots happen not just because of the act, but socio-economic issues in general. King happened during the 1992 recession. Brown happened during the height of the minimum wage protests. Floyd happened during the COVID unemployment and rent strife. Often this event is the match that causes a ready stick of dynamite to blow. People overlook the socio-economic issues.
I don't understand riots anymore than I understand terrorism. Neither of them works to effect the change they say they desire. So, in both cases, it just comes down to bullies pulling off a destruction party to feel good about hurting their enemies. It is fun but solves nothing and causes huge blowback. The backlash gets the participants further away from the change they say they want.
But if he did simply just get back in the car to drive away, (a stupid move of course) what fear would the police hold that would make them shoot him?
Let him drive away, possibly with a weapon......
Knowing that the police are after him.
So he can get home, maybe hitting a few cars or innocent bystanders along the way.....
Where he can maybe access more weapons and threaten more cops and maybe endager his family when they come to his house to arrest him..
..
Yeah..... brilliant idea.
