Derek Chauvin waived his right to have a jury decide re: his sentencing. Right now, Judge Peter Cahill will now make that decision, i.e. he will decide whether or not there are aggravating factors.
I suppose Derek Chauvin could waive his right to have a jury trial, if there is to be a new trial.
I don't know why he didn't do that in the first place, honestly.
I'd trust a judge whose reason for being is law and order over a bunch of woke idiots in a jury.
Oh, I suspect he lied on his questionnaire, too. Can I prove he did? No, and I'm betting that's a high bar for the defense, as well. We shall see.
Either way, Chauvin is guilty and will be found guilty again should it come to that.
I don't think he lied in his questionnaire, he stated that he had seen video footage of the incident, that he had spoken about the case with his family & friends, that he had wondered why the other officers didn’t stop Derek Chauvin, & that his view of Black Lives Matter was “very favorable”.
Probably. But I still would much rather have a(n) (honorable) judge decide my case in these circumstances than a bunch of stupid democrats who hate white people by default.

Yeah, I see your point. I wouldn't want a woke republican with racial disenfranchised antics in a jury either. But gosh there are sooo many going public with hatred in their hearts . Sounds like you support that .
I support the justice system . I do think jurors need to shut up and stay out of the lime light after they served their jury duty. Particularly since sentencing and appeals have not even transpired.

I think Judge Peter Cahill acted fairly & reasonably considering the extraordinary circumstances.
I also think you would have been disqualified as a juror if you had honestly answered the juror questionnaire.

Where he lied was on the main question of whether he could take everything he's seen and heard, and his opinions, and put all of that aside to decide the case in a fair and impartial manner.
He objectively lied. But at least he has been honest enough to admit it.

He said he never attended protests over police brutality in Minnesota or beyond. He also answered a question on Black Lives Matter, saying, “Black lives just want to be treated as equals and not killed or treated in an aggressive manner simply because they are Black.”
A tainted juror. Looks like the appeal will have lots of ammo to help the defense.
Appeal filed today. Stay tuned.
