Well, it's his lie. He can tell it how he wants. The fair of mind can call him on it. Welcome to America kiddo. Where , when we see a person receive a 12 year education thru American tax payer money. We tend to appreciate some regard for that priveledge.
Correct his diploma was processed. He could pick it up at the school district.

At my graduation it was a ceremonial event. All students had the diplomas mailed . The paper handed to us on stage was a prop. We knew the gimmick.

I do think the mother should know English by now though. At least enough to get by and it sounds like she knows none. That doesn’t instill confidence that she cares anything about the country she lives in and that has given her and her son a lot of opportunities. What happens when she can’t communicate with emergency personnel or others in position of authority? English is the unofficial language of the US. Only a nincompoop doesn’t learn the language of a country they lived in for nearly two decades. Out of respect, I would not live in a non English speaking country for that long without learning their language.
My wife's grandmother was born near Houston in 1918 to Mexican parents. She died in 2000, and still spoke very little English. I've been to places in Louisiana where people spoke mostly French, and their English was poor. Some people just don't learn a new language very well. The mother may very well speak English, but prefers to speak in Spanish when it's a long conversation.

"A teen who wore a full-sized flag of Mexico to his high school graduation ceremony in North Carolina is at risk of not getting his diploma."

At the end of the day, it's a flag. Threatening him is repulsive.

Very few cannot learn. They are the mentally disabled. It's about the unwillingness to try.

Communicating with one another and showing respect for the country that gave one an opportunity.

So laws that are in place for everyone can just go suck themselves? Rules are rules how arrogant to make such a statement!

And what was an immigrant advocacy group doing there? Were they assuming he is an immigrant? He was born here.
It's the same theme with the left. They think too many minorities are too stupid to learn. To inept to get a voter ID. To inept to figure out how to vote when it's extremely easy. Jim Crow never left these repulsive excuse makers.

Mentally disabled? That's more than a little harsh. You don't speak for everyone, and you have no idea how hard it is for many people to learn a language. I struggle with languages despite having lived in a number of different countries, while a friend can pick up a new language in a few weeks. Like any other human endeavor, there's a bell curve, with some people learning extremely quickly and well, others struggle for years, and there's a bunch in the middle that represent the average.

More bull feces from the uninformed who think their own experience is representative of all humans. No one thinks minorities are too stupid to learn, but people with empathy understand that sometimes people need help, and that we shouldn't build intentional road blocks to make routine matters more difficult.

Guess there are separate rules for dress if you are privileged enough.

Odd times. Seriously though, this is our news. We must separate by race and gender! Thanks Democrats for creating all of these separations. Wow. This is what happens when you use race and gender as a political platform like the Democrats have been doing for years. It only gets worse from here.

He might have done the work, but he had not graduated until he had that diploma in his hand.

Too bad he broke the rules.

So what, he should be excoriated, shamed, and doomed to a life of servitude and menial labor for violating a minor rule? No, don't let him walk across the stage, hand him his diploma behind the scenes, and send him on his way.
