I keep my potatoes in my refrigerator. Too hot in Fl and potatoes suppose to be stored in a cool place .

Not many people have root cellars to keep them fresh.
We have refrigerators. I can keep potatoes for a couple of months.

I'm not seeing a rise in prices at Walmart or HEB, where I shop, but I am still seeing a supply chain problem with items that are typically easy to get. Like, small bottles of Ranch Dressing, or specific breakfast cereals.

I think somethings changed about store bought potatoes. Used to be a 10lb bag cost $1.98 and lasted for months, now you buy the bag because it costs $3 but you know you will throw 2/3 of it away. You only do it because the loose potatoes are $1.50 EACH.

Btw, bagged potatoes make great range targets. They are cheap, about the right size to be a challenge and they explode dramatically when hit.

Cool, dark, dry place...not the fridge.

Like I posted earlier..it's probably my locale.
In Texas the bag lasted. I also grew my own and they lasted.

But here...nope. So I buy them loose weekly.

My Walmart has loose Russets that are priced OK..$.88/lb
Those fancy loose ones with the nice packaging are much more though

Older apartment buildings in NYC have a built in storage bin with door under the kitchen window.
That's where we stored our potatoes and onions.

I put potatoes in the bin for vegetables in the fridge I have an extra fridge in my garage for odds and ends. In Florida it works for me and they stay fresh. No eyes.

Does anyone truly believe that ??

Shadowstats, using the 1980 government algorithm, shows 12% inflation.
Alternate Inflation Charts

From what I see in my weekly food shopping I'm going to go with shadowstats and act accordingly.
Same here. my daughters says on average everything is up about 10 to 15%.

Housing alone is up 35% YOY. No one is going to get enough of a raise to make up that difference. Not even close.
