Because every mainstream media news channel CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC only report good things about Joe, but they ran bad news about President Trump every single day. This really affects casual news viewers who would never take the time to wonder if Joe ever does anything bad or if President Trump every did anything good. They just want to turn on the TV or go to a major news network that everyone's heard of and get news there.
It doesn't occur to them that there are tons of other news stories happening in this country (that conservative news covers), and if the large mainstream media's not reporting them, then they must not be important enough to report, and therefore, they don't exist.
Joe Biden has hit several highs over 50% kind of shows how unpopular Trump really was. His claims of rigged election only pushes more voters over to the Democrat side.
Putin's puppet was not a choice for any real patriot, so I chose Biden. The Democrats, however, are governing for shiite, so in '22 I'll be donating and voting GOP. Don't get cocky, '22 is shaping up to be like '10 and the Dems still hurt from that loss because they've been forced to run 70+ year olds due to a light bench of future Presidential candidates.
He did. He motivated more of his base to turn out in 2020 than he did in 2016. His problem is that outside of his base he is universally despised and his base is a minority of voters. With him as the alternative, Joe Biden received more votes than any other candidate in history.

I don't want to comment on this thread other than to say this:
The reason that Trump voters have to deny the reality that Biden is more popular than Trump was is simply because they refuse to see the faults of their candidate.
1. They have no idea how angry many people were at his daily tweets which often were full of hate, racism, and rhetoric designed to divide the country rather than govern it.
2. They have no idea that most people felt he did a ****ty job when it came to coronavirus. He may gotten vaccine research going. Than he went out of his way to try and tell people it was no problem at all when he knew better.
3. They don't realize most people saw something peculiar in Trump's relationship with Vladmir Putin and they found it disturbing.
4. They don't realize a very large section of the country didn't feel Trump had the minimum qualifications necessary to be President in the first place. He demonstrated it over and over again.
5. They don't realize that the majority of Americans don't regard the press as the "enemy of the people", nor that it is the job of the president to continual feud with the media instead of governing.
They will never see it, but those are the real reasons Trump had low approval ratings and lost the election. If they want a re-match in 2024 I'm all for it.

A majority of the country didn't like Trump. Whether it was for the reasons I gave for other reasons is something you can figure out on your own.
If you truly have bought into a narrative that Trump really won the election--particularly the popular vote--and was somehow cheated out of it that is delusional.
There is really no basis for a discussion with people who believe you could commit voter fraud on the scale of 8 million or ten million votes in this country. Anyone who thinks like that is just wrong. Endstop.

Also a little over 50% approval is actually not that impressive for a guy getting pretty much 99% positive press coverage

That is no surprise, it was a low bar.
Nevertheless, the white house staff is much more competent and honest than the previous administration and after the personal smear job Trump and his minions tried to do on Biden he has exceeded most people's expectations of competency and performance.
Is the guy perfect? No. We will keep an eye on him and his administration and call him out when necessary, but he has by far exceeded the low standard of performance and repetitive chaos we came to expect from the Trump administration.
