The Biden administration announced Thursday it will allow a nationwide ban on evictions to expire Saturday, arguing that its hands are tied after the Supreme Court signaled it would only be extended until the end of the month.
Yikes, talk about a man with no sympathy. No wonder 50% of Americans ignore him and refuse to get a vaccine, he has yet to make any good decision and has broken every promise. I can see the buyers remorse from Democrats now.
The biggest problem I have with our government is the inclination by politicians to be seen "doing something" which leads to quick decision making and not a lot of discussion of the consequences.
When the shutdowns occurred in March of 2020, there was a need for cash payments, so a stimulus or two was warranted in my opinion to keep everyone afloat. After that, the government should have told the states that they would back the unemployment system with the full faith and credit of the United States, and that's IT. Because, despite being overloaded, there were at least controls in place in the unemployment systems to keep people honest. Now, you've got this eviction moratorium that you just know the left is itching to extend, even though there are numerous examples of people going back to work and not paying rent because they "don't have to."
Consequence #1, of many, they've driven small and medium sized landlords out of the business and the institutional investors with deep pockets are feasting. That can't be good for anyone but the donor class.
I applaud this. I feel sorry for people who own rental properties and have had to put up with this nonsense.
If you can’t take care of yourself and are not a benefit to society, you should not exist. Sorry if that offends all the bleeding hearts out there.
Will those same bleeding hearts open up their homes and wallets and take care of these potential homeless people? Of course not, but they want “them” to pay for those people. Not sure who “them” is? If you are talking about me, forget about it.
Good....but it's strange how inconsistency he applies progressive policy decisions. The expectation would be he would support forever free stuff like his younger millennial counterparts would.

I can see some democrats being upset with him but not a poster with conservative in their name.
How long are people allowed to avoid rent and how long are landlords supposed to not collect rent.
I am sure there are a few legitimate cases where Covid has caused real financial hardship but this moratorium is full of abuse and it is time to end.
I went to Zillow looking at homes in the northeast.. put in an area.. all pre-forclosures came up.. it is much worse than we know. It could be another 2008 with foreclosures .

Did you read the last phrase, this isn't about sympathy it was a court decision. Landlords also have expenses.

No, there's finally some sympathy for the countless landlords that have been paying THEIR bills. Businesses are clamoring for workers, and the unemployed are receiving generous benefits, so there is NO reason for anyone to not pay their rent. And the real world says (or should say) that if you don't pay your rent, you get kicked out. Period.
Good enough to use, good enough to pay for.
