The capital city Lima Peru is approx. 10 million people and that was before the influx of Venezuelans !!!
A lot of Peruvian people don't want to accept the vaccine !!! All of the adults in my wife's family did receive the Pfizer vaccine and the last one got the second shot last Sunday, several days ago !!! Two of her family members died before the vaccine was available !!! The two that died had covid !!!
??? Both were put into an induced coma but were never fed intravenously while in the coma so did they die from covid or from poor medical care
Both lasted for about ten days before taken off the ventilator !!! Ten days without the necessary food and hydration for sick people is a long time !!!
US ships first Pfizer vaccine doses abroad, donating 2 million to Peru
There is an element of vaccine tourism in the US whereby affluent people from countries with very limited vaccines legally enter the US to be vaccinated and spend $ on things not readily available in their own country.
South Florida has been a popular destination for affluent South Americans for decades. Plenty own property in the greater Miami area. Some hold dual citizenship.
Some who believed Covid was no threat, like a cold and would just go away, bought into a belief that the so- called MSM would cease to report on Covid, post the election. Obviously they were mistaken.

Lets bring it back to the title of the thread. More resistant to vaccine. That is the problem. You move the goalpost to more dangerous. I quoted right in my original comments its unclear if its more dangerous. But if it can infect and make ill vaccinated people that is a problem And scary. My eyes are open to all of this. Hopefully it turns out to be a nothing burger.
But if it bothers you to read and opine about this, don't.
I didn't move the goal post. Your thread title literally includes "A 'Potential Threat' To Humanity". What was the purpose of including that, if not to imply that it's more dangerous? We already know that the original virus wasn't a threat to humanity, and neither is any other variant we've seen so far.
ETA: Know what? Never mind. You're in a hysterical state of mind, and you're not able to be reasoned with. So just never mind. I'm going to move on to something actually productive.

So far the variants are following the usual ebb and flow of these viruses. The variants are more contagious but are a more mild version of the original virus.
It seems like many news articles on these variants choose to focus on hyperbole, not facts, to create click bait panic porn.
It’s been in the Miami area for weeks when sampling was not finding it in Mexico or Central America- it went straight from Colombia to a south Florida on daily flights from Bogota.
Given incubation times, mandated covid testing before an international flight is about as effective in preventing spread into a country as the TSA is at finding guns people try to bring through security checkpoints
What the testing requirement does do is keep out those including returning residents, who test positive.
Plenty of pissed off US people have had to incur the cost and burden of recovering/ isolating elsewhere until they can provide proof of recovery 14 or more days later. And occasionally some have required local hospitalization and more.
