The state of battery technology is nowhere near advanced enough to match the power of gasoline engines in certain applications. Most likely, it will get there, someday; but California decreeing it to be so will not make it happen. In the mean time, as more and more people plug their batteries in, the power grid will become ever more feeble. Did they think of any of this before passing this ridiculous law? No, of course not. When you're woke, you don't have to think about the real-world application of anything you do.
All sales of off road gas powered equipment banned
This should work out well when people try to charge up electric equipment when California can't even keep the power on as it is. Those idiots deserve every bad thing that happens to them. It's all self inflicted.
How will they cut down a tree? No battery powered chainsaw is big enough.
How do you think giant old growth trees were cut down by men before power tools were invented?
See, there's all manner of these things called hand tools made for cutting everything from trees to blades of grass. They are operated by hand, powered by people power, used for thousands of years before power tools became popular. Lots of people still use hand tools. And a bonus is there are no emissions from hand tools.
Why does the outrage machine always leave out important details? Details which are found in the linked article.
This law takes effect in 2024, or whenever feasible, whichever date is later. California is also going to subsidize small businesses to help them retool. This is the first step in an effort to move to lower emission items, which is a great goal.
2024?
A distinction without any particular significance.
