… In that email, Gruden, who is white and was working for ESPN at the time, criticized Smith’s intelligence and used a racist trope to describe his face. …

Taken together, the emails provide an unvarnished look into the clubby culture of one N.F.L. circle of peers, where white male decision makers felt comfortable sharing pornographic images, deriding the league policies, and jocularly sharing homophobic language.
Whereas nonwhite males in the football business are famous for their sensitivity and discretion about vocabulary.

Quote:
Their banter flies in the face of the league’s public denouncements of racism and sexism and its promises to be more inclusive amid criticism for not listening to the concerns of Black players, who make up about 70 percent of rosters.
Black football players would never ever make fun of a homosexual.

Quote:
The N.F.L. has in the past struggled to discipline personnel who have committed acts of domestic violence and been condemned for failing to adequately address harassment of women, including N.F.L. cheerleaders.
The solution is obviously to give more power to blacks, since they never do that kind of thing.

This.

Reminds me of Chris Harrison who was cancelled because he called out the leftist Stasi infesting twitter. Fortunately he has millions and enough dirt to get another 9 million to shut up.

Wrong.

Ownership needs to be approved by other owners, and that’s only after an owner wants to sell. Kanye West and Oprah can’t wake up one day and buy a franchise.

Nice try though.

Just wondering about the vetting processes that go into the hiring of NFL personnel. Seems like there is a history that may not have been uncovered, before shelling out $100 million and full-control of the team.

The obsession of wanting high-profile names, at all costs, without checks. Gruden had a history that could have been uncovered. Urban Meyer already had a history, at Ohio State, with the failure to discipline his assistant coach caught up in a domestic dispute with his wife.

And for those who want to keep it on the field........the Khalil Mack trade is still a head scratcher!

And dumb enough to put it all in emails.

Gruden called NFL commissioner Roger Goodel a “faggot” and a “clueless anti-football *****.”

He voiced his opposition to the league’s pressuring of Rams’ coach Jeff Fisher to select “queers.”

I went to high school with him. He is a good guy (was good friends with his brother, Jim).

He didn't say anything wrong, just things that are politically incorrect.

The world cannot face the truth anymore and resorts to fascist censorship of everything. It is ironic that those who are so "shocked" about these emails are resorting to much worse actions (censorship and intimidation) to assauge their hurt feelings.

Gruden was ANGRY about the Mack trade, which was made by the GM, not him.

BS- he complained to the GM that he neutered his defense with the trade.

Gruden is speaking the same locker room language as many of the players, heck a few years before those emails the NBA instituted penalties for saying anti-gay slurs by players as it was widespread.

It's a major business and leadership (Gruden) can't be swinging slurs around and not reap the repercussions.
