They're saying it because they write the laws.

The big money is with the middle class. Everybody knows it. If you want to pay for the crap the government promises, that money comes from YOU.

The wealthy are the beneficiaries of higher tax rates. Your money is taken by the government and then given to them in the form of contracts and grants. Then, a little while later, some of it ends up going back to the same politicians who passed the laws in the form of donations during the next election cycle. Rinse and repeat.

YOUR wealth is being transferred to the wealthy, and it's being done under the guise of benefitting you.

You mean the middle class that has gone from being 44% of the pie to just 38%?

It appears we've seen the answer to the title's question; I think the next question is, do you just give up?

I'm not suggesting getting blood from a stone.

I'm suggesting that everyone pay the same percentage of their income.

If you have income, you're not a stone.

Easy math:

At 10% tax rate, a person who makes a million dollars a year would be paying 10 times the amount in actual dollars that a person who makes 100k a year would pay.

Why should the person's rate be higher than 10% at 1 million than it is at 100k?

So he can pay MORE than 10 times the amount that someone does at 100k??

And you call that "fair share"??

Do you realize that would either massively reduce government revenue, or you would have to set such a high rate to get the current revenue that people making under $50k per year (over half the population) wouldn't have enough to live on....

Desperate people do desperate things. Poverty breeds crime, poor people aren't inherently evil

How come when the mafia forces people to pay for protection from themselves, it is called extortion, and it is illegal? But when the government does it, it is fine?

Did you read the post I was responding to? Pay more taxes or else there will be a revolution and you will lose it all?

How are you going to lose your possessions in a revolution without crimes being committed against you?
