By all accounts, before public office, Bernie Sanders was a bum. He, some how went from being a bum to a millionaire after enter public office.
If the super rich don't pay their share in taxes blame the elected politicians that wrote the tax codes. In other words that team that Bernie has played for, for 5 decades.
Well Musk sits there and brags he'll "Stop world hunger", so it really shouldn't be a problem for him paying more taxes. Sick of us middle class people picking up the tab
No one should be picking up the tab. The problem is the government not Elon Musk or the Middle Class.
Taxes paid proportional to wealth owned. The top 1% control 40% of the nation's wealth and only pay 24% of taxes. The bottom 50% control only 2% of the wealth, but pay 12% of taxes. The ultra-wealthy are getting off easy, not paying their fair share.
The top 1% are paying LESS taxes than you or I, as a % of wealth. Elon Musk specifically pays NO income taxes. he pays less than anyone else in terms of that too, by the way.
When you advocate some people paying a higher rate than others, you are eliminating the entire concept of "fair share" from the equation.
You missed the point. We're talking about Elon Musk not contributing his fair share. We don't give the wealthy a pass on paying their fair share just because they own businesses. Factually speaking, given how much more their wealth grows compared to taxes paid, they are personally benefitting off the lower classes. The net wealth of lower class people creates as many jobs as that one ultra-wealthy person the right wing loves to worship, but does so with a larger tax burden.
There is no greater form of BS than a Left winger defining "fair".

This. Neither Elon Musk nor the Middle Class is operating on a permanent 30% deficit. The government has a spending problem so Bernie can **** until they cut the budget and taxes by 50% and maintain a surplus for 10 consecutive years.
I am defining 'fair share' as net taxes paid as a relationship to their percentage owned of the country's net worth. Given that, the top 1% pay far less than the bottom 50%.
We still have a war on poverty because we've somehow believed trickle down economics actually works for decades, and the ultra wealthy have benefitted from it, not the middle and lower classes (who really grow economies).
There is no "percentage" of wealth.
Wealth is not finite.
There is no "X" amount of wealth for anyone to hoard.
There can't be a percentage of anything that there isn't a set, finite amount of.
