This comment is completely ignorant of the basic law of economics.

How do they suck you dry when you aren't even paying taxes in the same amount as the rich?

Taxes paid proportional to wealth owned. The top 1% control 40% of the nation's wealth and only pay 24% of taxes. The bottom 50% control only 2% of the wealth, but pay 12% of taxes. The ultra-wealthy are getting off easy, not paying their fair share.

The top 1% are paying LESS taxes than you or I, as a % of wealth. Elon Musk specifically pays NO income taxes. he pays less than anyone else in terms of that too, by the way.

He pays NO income taxes because he earned NO income.

And Elon contributes FAR MORE to the economy as a whole than Bernie ever did his entire life.

How many jobs as Bernie created in his 50 years preaching communism in Congress?

You missed the point. We're talking about Elon Musk not contributing his fair share. We don't give the wealthy a pass on paying their fair share just because they own businesses. Factually speaking, given how much more their wealth grows compared to taxes paid, they are personally benefitting off the lower classes. The net wealth of lower class people creates as many jobs as that one ultra-wealthy person the right wing loves to worship, but does so with a larger tax burden.

No. Elon paid more than his fair share. All net taxpayers paid more than their fair share. And Bernie? He's been a drain on the economy for 50 years, as has his buddy Joe.

And if you think the government can solve poverty, why do we still have poverty after 60 years of waging war on it?

It's the bums on the bottom of the income scale not paying theirs.

I am defining 'fair share' as net taxes paid as a relationship to their percentage owned of the country's net worth. Given that, the top 1% pay far less than the bottom 50%.

We still have a war on poverty because we've somehow believed trickle down economics actually works for decades, and the ultra wealthy have benefitted from it, not the middle and lower classes (who really grow economies).

That's your definition.

Sorry, taxes are levied as a function of income. And as a function of income, the wealthy pay too much and the poor pay too little.

The federal government doesn't tax wealth, so very strange comment. The envy and greed of the left is alarming. The top 1% earn 20% but pay 40% of federal income tax. That is double their fair share.

Obviously, and that's the problem we're trying to address. Wealth taxes are the subject of this thread.
