It happens sometimes, wasn’t the first time.
We survived.

Poll: Young Republicans break with their party on climate change. Once the Boomers kick the bucket and get out of the way, you'll see more bipartisan support for fighting climate change.

What about the many working class people in trades, construction and maintenance who build and maintain renewable energy power plants and residential solar?
Many of those workers don’t stay in those positions very long.

you're contending that the collapse of the world's major national economies is inevitable. You oppose spending to mitigate global warming's detrimental effects upon our nation? Respectfully, Supposn
How is raising the cost of electricity and heating fuel "spending to mitigate global warming's detrimental effects upon our nation"?

Government waste = truckloads of free money for people with the right connections. So you can bet it will never stop, regardless of which party is in power.
Many Democrats voted for those wars including Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.

21.8% of the electricity in the US is generated from coal.

A Tesla model S requires 118 kWh to fully charge the battery.

21.8% of 118 kWhs is 25.7 kWhs.

2.23 lbs of coal is used to produce each kWh of electricity.

This means that each time a Tesla model S is charged, 57 lbs of coal is consumed and 118 lbs of coal derived CO2 enters the atmosphere.

Of course, the total amount of CO2 is higher because other methods of electrical generation also produce CO2.

Meanwhile, a gallon of gasoline produces 19 lbs of CO2.

I'm guessing the additional CO2 from other sources of electrical generation puts the actual amount of CO2 from a single Tesla S charge closer to 160-180 lbs of CO2.

With that, we can put 9.5 gallons of gas in a nice car like a Toyota Camry (28/39 mpg) and drive 318 city and highway miles vs. the Tesla's 405 miles.

I'm not impressed.

The people running the Democrats and the elite Democrats don't believe anything in their platform including Man causing climate change. They just use these issues to gain power because their clueless, emotional followers will buy into it. The people running the show know it's all a SCAM, including the Covid measures.

Sounds like you are describing the Big Lie and the ‘pubs. At least climate change and COVID has some science behind it. Even if you don’t care to believe it.

Yes, the global warming deniers are wrong. I usually tell them to buy property in low-lying areas of Miami, Norfolk, and New Orleans.

But on the other hand, there’s no way to solve the global warming problem. We simply don’t have economical replacements for fossil fuels, at least not yet. Wind and solar are a drop in the bucket, and inherently limited by their intermittency.

We have nuclear fission, but the Right doesn’t like it because it’s too expensive, and the Left has never liked it. And NIMBYs everywhere will oppose it, regardless of political affiliation.

I'm starting to see the "middle" of some issues instead of the polarizing ends. More progress to be had there.

1. Instead of climate crisis - etc. - can we not all agree that MORE pollution is BAD, while LESS pollution is GOOD? Simple. Remove the word "climate" from all of this - and simply agree on less pollution. Only a bozo would fight that.

2. While "green" sources have their drawbacks - it is likely that progress continues to be made in the efficiency of everything from light bulbs to refrigerators. Who would argue with making more efficient ANYTHING?

3. Research into efficiencies and energies may lead to an unexpected conclusion - why fight that? "Let's see what we can learn." Who argues with learning? Maybe it'll turn out YOUR way, whatever that is...

And so on.

Things do not have to be so completely - and immovably - polarizing.
